This is a link to the download site for Toshiba drivers. Select the model of your laptop and click Go to retrieve a list of available drivers.
Before doing this, however, you need to be certain of the model number of your laptop. Equium is the make of toshiba desktop computers and A60 is the model number for a Toshiba Satellite laptop. Look on the bottom of your laptop for a label that will have the exact model number you need then select that on the website.

pull the battery out and leave it out for a few minutes and then put it back in - if you can reach the bios then reset optimum settings - if there is a windows password then reformatting will get rid of that one.
Hi, You will need the recovery discs or the XP installation disc generally the recovery disc are delivered with the laptops if you do not got it then you have to buy it from Toshiba. Then you have to boot the laptop with that disc by pressing F2 at the Toshiba logo screen and selecting the cd/dvd drive as the boot device.
Loading XP back on isn't the problem, it will be the chipset drivers that you will need for your onboard graphics, sound etc... before you format and load XP back onto your laptop contact Toshiba for the chipset drivers for your laptop.
If XP is causing you problems, why no repair the verison you already have on there? If you put the XP disk in when given the choice to press enter to install or 'R' for repair. Press R. It will replace any corrupted files to your system with new ones.
It may be possible to startup in safe mode(press F8 on boot up) and highlight 'Last Known Good Configuration' or highlight 'Start Windows in Safe Mode.
If this gets you up try a system restore to before you updated driver or look for the system recovery folder, normally on another partition of your hard drive, that is if you didn't get a recovery cd.
If you are not able to get up and running you will need your Windows Installation Disc to either repair the system or do a complete re installation by putting in cd whilst you boot up.
It may also be that your HDD is damaged and thats why you can hear the cd drive powering up, looking for a system disc, as it cannot find Windows.
