When I slide the cover over, it does not turn on anymore. No ding, no lights, nothing. I had misplaced the battery charger, and replaced that, also got a new battery and charged it up. Neither the old nor new battery will make it power on, though both are fully charged.
No liquids have entered the battery compartment, it has not been dropped on anything but thick carpet (and worked a while after that happened). There doesn't appear to even be dust in there, and nothing is loose or broken that I can see.
I am desperate to get this fixed because I need high resolution images for my ebay sales- I can't afford to get a new camera- so whatever I can do to get this fixed ASAP I will do. Up until this unexplained malfunction, it's been the best camera I've ever used so I am very frustrated.
Removed the sliding lens cover to see if that was the problem- manually flipping & holding switch to no avail.Removed the sliding lens cover to see if that was the problem- manually flipping & holding switch to no avail.
I am assuming it's out of warranty already. Would someone who has an electrical engineering degree and the equipment be able to fix this? How would I go about getting a replacement fuse? Or is that not possible?I am assuming it's out of warranty already. Would someone who has an electrical engineering degree and the equipment be able to fix this? Re:
I cannot find the fuse online. I think you need to open it up, identify the fuse, and then take it to an electronics store to see if they have a suitable replacement. If they don't, try an electronics/camera repair shop. Presumably any place capable of making such repairs knows where to get the parts, and will likely be able to sell you one. They may charge twice what it's worth, but fuses are cheap to start with, and it beat paying someone to repair it.

It is likely that the internal fuse has blown. Sometimes they just go for no apparent reason. The fuse requires soldering to replace, so it is best to find a shop to do it for you. The cost would be $89 at my shop and probably similar elsewhere.
Someone with electronics experience may be able to perform the repair. The trouble is that the fuse is located on a circuit board inside the camera. I do not have specific information on this model although I know it is yellow in color and located on the DC-DC converter board. The replacement fuse can be found on a site such as digikey.com. The camera will need to be taken apart, the fuse located, appropriate part acquired and soldered into place.Someone with electronics experience may be able to perform the repair. Fix an Android device that won't charge or turn on
Use the steps on this page to fix the following problems on your phone:
Won't turn on
Has a black or blank screen
Turns on but immediately turns off
Hold the power button
First, try holding down your phone's power button for 5-7 seconds. This usually restarts a phone.
Troubleshoot your cable, charger, outlet & case
Use the charger and cable that came with your phone. To check that the charger and cable are working, try them with another device.
Check that the cable is securely connected to the charger and to your phone. Check that there's nothing in your phone's port, like dust or lint.
Plug the charger into a wall outlet. To check that the outlet is working, plug in something else, like a lamp.
Check that no accessories, like cases or battery packs, cover your phone's sensors or press its buttons.
Troubleshoot your battery charge
Plug in your phone with a working cable, charger, and outlet, then wait one minute.
If you see a battery icon, your phone is powered off and is charging. You can restart right away.
If you see a red light, your battery is fully discharged. If the red light is flashing, there isn't enough power to turn on. Charge your phone for at least 30 minutes before restarting.
If you don't see a battery icon or red light after you plug in your phone, the issue could be with your screen.
You may need the dealer for this. NO BUS means the body computer, engine computer, and instrument cluster are not talking to each other correctly. It could be a wiring problem or something in one of the components.
You probably tried taking the battery out and using an eraser, clean the terminals of the battery, replace do not power phone on, plug in charger and see what happens.
open cover/screen remove the battery, put in ac charger, press power button to turn on when it does start beeping press and hold down power button till it restarts, should do the trick if not you may have a bad cpu that is the prosseor has fried. Goodluck!

Is the voltage meter directly on the Battery?? What model Dell is it?? I have found that on the D800 models for some reason the connection from the power button to the Motherboard comes loose. You need to remove the Keyboard cover to check this.
