You will need to get a StorageTek engineer out onsite to have a look at the problem, the light will not dissapear until resetted by a engineer.

I was trying to backup my server while exchanging DLT tapes, the tape in use light stayed on and the serve would then alternate to four flashing lights and then back to flashing "Tape In Use...

Hello,

Try the following action to resovle your issue:

1. Run the Drive Assessment Test in HP StorageWorks Library and Tape Tools.

CAUTION: Running the Drive Assessment Test overwrites the tape. If it is not possible to

overwrite the tape, run the logs-based Device Analysis Test instead.
2. Check the backup logs.

3. Verify that a supported configuration is being used.

4. Check for media damage:

o Incorrect label placement

o Broken, missing, or loose leader pin

o Damaged cartridge seam

o Usage in incorrect environment

5. Check for software issues:

a. Check the backup software.

b. Check that virus scanning software is not scheduled to run at the same time as the back-up.

6. Verify that a tape can be formatted.

Tape Error LED is flashing:

1. Reload the suspect tape. If the Tape Error LED stops flashing, the problem has cleared.

2. Load a new or known good tape. If the Tape Error LED stops flashing, the problem has cleared.

3. Reload the suspect tape. If the Tape Error LED flashes, discard the suspect media as faulty.

From my experience, most of the time it is a bad tape, using a new tape usually solves the problem. If after inserting a new tape and the problem exist, you may need to update your firmware/backup software.

Good Luck

HP Tape Library Maintenance

Do Not clean the tape drives in a HP tape library unless and until the cleaning LED blinks. It is strictly recommended by HP.
Also do not fill all the slots with media, always leave 2 slots free apart from the male slots. This helps to avoid media struck in the library.

HP StorageWorks 1/8 Tape Autoloader SDLT 320 - tape library - Super DLT - SCSI Displayed Error! Code: A0 When you try to import or export are displayed error code 90

The library picker arm cannot move to the home position. There could be something blocking it. Try the Reset option from the Configuration menu. This is detailed in the library user guide.

DLT-S4 tape is stuck in Quantum drive all 3 LEDs flashing together. Eject tape button does not work, how to get the tape out?

Hello, on some of the older DLT drives, if you press the 'eject' button several times the drive firmware attempts an unload operation. I'm not sure of the number of times you have to press it though...try pressing it in and releasing it 3 times (in quick succession). If that doesn't do anything, try 7 times.
It's worth a try!

My Storegtek L80 can't recognize all of its tape drives

That thing required a SCSI terminator pack doesn't it.

If so, is it working properly.

I've had those things go out on me before leaving me to pull my hair out many times.

Quantum ATL SuperLoader

If you cannot physically load a tape into the drive it is a hardware problem and the drive requires service. It is not a software problem.

Of course, the library could already have the maximum tapes it can hold. If this is the case then eject a tape from the library to make room for the tape you want to add.

I hope this helps.

DLT VS160

red LED blinkin suggests the drive is reporting some sort of internal error, if you can see no obvuios problem (something jammed in the mechanism, ect ect) take it to someone who can dismantle it and check for dry joints, jamming things like that
