The radar detector does not work, it wont turn it on. i tryed taking out the wire and plugging it back in, but it still didnt work.
For what its worth a few years ago I had a similar problem. Turned out the car 12V socket I was plugging into didn't work. Quickest way to test that out is to take it to another car and try it there.

Check the power lead - if it is a cigarette lighter socket type, often you can unscrew the end and you will find a small fuse in the plug - this could be the problem. If not, then is the detector still under warranty? if not open it up and send us a couple of photos of the insides. Hope this helps :)

Next thing to try is to open it up if it is no longer under warranty. There could be an internal fuse, or other power conditioning electronics that have failed - possibly a failed back-up battery
See if you can open it, have a look for anything obviously burnt/unusual, take a couple of photos and post them back - we may spot something also.
If you have access to a voltmeter, check that the voltage at the socket is well above nominal 12V - should be about 11.5v to 13.2v. If it is less than 11v with the car both running and not running, then the car battery or alternator or both are probably faulty.
Try it in another car to check, ideally in a socket that works for another electronic gadget such as a mobile phone charger.

Thanks, I got the fuse out. I'll go to the store and buy a new one. I'll let you know if this fixes it.
