Connect to the internet by connecting a Ethernet Cable to the Laptop and the Wireless Access Point/router. Open the Device Manager, Network Adapters, Click on the wireless adapter, is it enabled? yes or no? Yes, update driver. reboot laptop. Is your Wireless Access Point securied? unplug the wireless access point , wait for 30 seconds or so, plug in, wait for selftest, reboot laptop. You didn't supply the Laptop Make, Model or the OS you are using?

SOURCE: configure wireless connection on acer aspire one

Some people like to disable the zero config service for security purposes. Here's how to re-enable it (assuming you're using Windows XP) -

  • Go to Start then select Run (or use (WinKey+R key combo)
  • Put in services.msc
  • Keep hitting the W key until Wireless Zero Configuration is highlight.
  • Double click to bring up the properties of this service
  • You want to make the Startup type set to Automatic and then also click the Start button (next to the stop button and below the "Service status" line.
When you're done just push ok to get rid of the properties window and you can close the services screen. You should now be able to connect to the wireless.

SOURCE: I cant connect to the internet, it says enable

You need to go to your control panel then your internet options. From there go to your internet connections and foolow the prompts for wireless connections. That will set up a wireless connection for you, you may have to redo this connection depending on your location when using your computer. Take note unless you know their passwords you can only get on non secure networks. That means be careful what you do for anyone can intercept the work.

How do I get the acers drivers installed? I have down loaded all three wireless drivers, and none work.

Drivers for windows Vista are here: http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/as_4720.html
Under Drivers and Utilities, Select and download these drives;
1. Wireless LAN Atheros
2. Wireless LAN Broadcom
3. Wireless LAN Intel
While installing, please start with "Intel" as you follow instruction there after. Restart your Laptop and install Broadcom, Atheros respectively.

Please ensure that VISTA SP1 is installed on your system prior to installing these drivers!
Driver incompatibilities on a system without VISTA SP1 might affect usability.

My gateway laptop cant connect to the internet. _When I plug a cable, the red light in the port does not respond _ The WIFI does not respond

Hello John,
It seems that: 1. Your LAN controller and the WiFi controller could be disabled in your BIOS setup. To re-enable them, if applicable,
  • Press the F1(or F2 ) key repeatedly after restarting the computer to enter the BIOS setup.
  • Navigate through your BIOS and locate the settings for LAN conroller and wireless, and select Enabled to enable them.
2. You may not have the appropriate drivers installed on your laptop for your network controllers. Upon further investigation, your laptop runs on the following network hardware:
  • ActionTec IEEE 802.11b network card installed in Mini PCI expansion slot
  • Broadcom BCM94306 IEEE802.11g network card installed in Mini PCI expansion slot
  • Broadcom BCM94300 IEEE802.11a/g network card installed in Mini PCI expansion slot
Download and install your drivers for the hardware above from: Wireless Drivers(Broadcom BCM94306) from http://www.soft32.com/download_175098.html Broadcom BCM94306 10/100Mbps LAN drivers from http://www.broadcom.com/support/ethernet_nic/downloaddrivers.php
Hope this solution helps.Good day.

I have the lenovo 3000 n100 and it tells me there is no wireless adaptor installed???? I have a broadcom 802.11g in the notebook.

Normal 0 Restore your computer to a date that your wireless card worked.
Here are the steps to perform a system restore:
1. Click Start
2. Select All Programs
3. Scroll up to Accessories
4. Select System Tools
5. Choose System Restore
Select the first option (restore my computer to an earlier time) Choose a date and click next to complete.
You can always undo the restore by selecting the third option (undo my last restore) so do not worry about picking the wrong date.

If you are curious like I am you may want to know how or when your hardware was removed. If so before you restore your pc open System Information this tool is directly above System Restore in the System Tools folder. After you open the application go to View (on the toolbar) in the drop down menu select System History.
Now to the right you will see a drop down menu click that and select a date you want to view, this will show changes made since the chosen date. On the left pane you will want to highlight Components you can now view all changes made since the date you selected.
If you go to the top of the toolbar in the right pane and click the buttons (Time, Change and Name) it will sort by button clicked. For example if you click Change it will sort alphabetically displaying every added component first click it again and it does the reverse displaying every removed component.

Wireless?

two suggestions, first you may need to enable it in your computers setup program. Normally you have the option just before windows starts to load, either by pressing F8 or esc will get you into the the computers main/basic setup screen. You should find the wi-fi is disabled so just a case of changing it to enable.

Secondly, within windows go to control panel then device manager, network adaptors, and you may find that your broadcom 802.11g network adaptor is disabled, you will need to enable it by using the icons at the top. If there is a problem with it then there will be a question mark beside it, then you will need to post the error message your getting for further assistance.
