You can download the user guide and software guides from http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=222&modelid=17624

    This solution is ABSOLUTELY USELESS! The link points only to g10 canon support site but CANON does NOT support their cameras. There are just and only software UPDATES for which you have to have your original application installed. IF YOU LOST YOUR G10 ORIGINAL DISK YOU ARE DONE. DONE. DONE.
    (By mistake/oversight I just bought G10 w/o the original cd so I do know!)

    @hapkal
    The solution states "the user guide and software guides."
    No one is forcing you to use the Canon software. The camera works fine without it. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

    Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use ANY photo cataloging program, such as Picasa (http://picasa.google.com ).

Do what the pros do....use a card reader instead of the camera. When you plug it into the USB port, an icon will appear called "NO NAME". Double-click on it and the pics will open in "preview". From there, you can import them to a folder you create on your desktop or into iPhoto. d05ed6a.jpg

1. With the camera on and in playback mode, plug the cord from the camera into the Macbook. It should appear on the desktop as a drive, probably called "no name". If it doesn't, don't worry...the next solution always works and it's the one the pros use anyway. 2. Get a card reader and use it to download to a folder you create on your desktop. From there, you can import the pics to iPhoto.
