Question about Panasonic PTL500U Multimedia Projector
My panny PTL500U is 2 1/2 years old. Recently I noticed a shadowing problem after I changed channels or paused a movie. Also, a spattering of tiny blue dot clusters has begun to appear on my screen. The number of dots keeps growing. What is going on? and how can I fix it?

flavrlen, looks like a part of your TV needs re-attaching or replacement, depending on where the blue spot is there is a greater possibility that the EEPROM (IC) has been dettached, you may get this repaired or better off, replaced with a 128K, its just 8 bucks so no problem on that part. getting it in is the tricky part that will require professional physical repair.
if you want to you may contact panasonic to doublecheck,
here's a price list of the parts of your TV.

Sounds like stuck pixels, you really can't fix that. Do some google research if you are curious what a stuck pixel is.

Colored Blotches on an LCD Projection TV are usually caused by defects or marks on filters or lenses in the light engine (or optical block) First confirm that the lamp or main lens is not discolored by removing the lamp (unplug set and let cool before removing!) and inspecting the lamp itself and the lens that it shine onto. The light engine is an expensive part ($600-$1200) to replace and requires major disassembly.

Whoa. You are so right. It is actually hundreds of thousands of tiny dots. You are not supposed to notice that, though unless you are sitting waaay too close to the screen or you have the worst cable connection ever. If you have checked all the connections and are sitting far enough away and it is still all dotty, then take that ****** right back and get a different one, no kidding.

Similar problem - my PT-L500 is 4 years old and has developed a blue shadow in parts of the image. Recently a few blue dots have also appeared. Panasonic tech support not helpful. Bulb replacement has enhanced the problem. Suspect cleaning is required. Any suggestions?
