By any chance have you heard of this problem before. I was watching TV and the unit turned itself off showing the red standby light I pressed standby to power the system again and it went to green then promptly back to red. I can hear the unit click on when it turns on and goes from Stanby to Green and back.
I shut the main power off to it and disconnected the cables waited a few minutes then connected it all back and turned it back on only to find the same thing except now once I turn the main power on the standby goes red then flashes green then back to red. I press the standby button and it goes to green but no picture and at this point I cannot press anything to get it back to red I have to turn the main power off again.
Please let me know.
It is the power supply. Replace the C97, C19, and C16 Capacitors with 2.2 uF ones
This worked for my set and it only cost me $213.00 at an LG Cerified repair center. The Owner told me that Planar's are basically LG's except for the board, which is proprietary (That's why LG remotes don't work)
Seek out LG repair centers when in doubt. The place I went was firmiliar with Planar

the internal overload sensor is engaging to protect the system. The parts cost to replace the faulty board is about $70 But you need the skills to open the tv and change it I recommend you get a professional to do it More expensive of course but a lot safer.
unit seems to go into protect mode.Theres very little that can be done..There is good chance unit needs to be checked at a repair shop.Try to find one that is authorized for your particular brand if possible
Check the 15v line that runs through all the boards, left, right and top.. If that has no power, then look on the ysus board (left one) there is a flyback reg (5pin) standard to-220 case surrouded by caps, it does dc to ac conversion, if you dont have the 15v output then the chip is bad. I just did 2 of these that had the same problem.
change the c97,c19 and c16 caps below is where I got mines.
Got it from a site called digi-key.com their phone
