How to take out the circuit board on a Viking DTWL 4848

I have a Viking range hood model DTWL 4848 that the fan will only run at high speed. I need to remove and replace the circuit board, but cannot find details to do this anywhere on line. The installation manual does not explain how the hood comes apart. I can get to the 2 side screws that support the large stainless steel panel that holds the electronics, but cannot get to the 3 screws that are inside. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Walt

This range hood has the 1200 cfm external blower, so there is only the circuit board and halogen lights in the hood. I need to know how to get at the electronics. I installed the hood a couple of years ago according to the installation manual, but nowhere in the manual does it explain how to service any of the electronics.

Hi,

If you are not a trained professional, i would advise you to purchase new board rather than trying to rectify that. You might cause more more damage to it while repairing the board. If you need some websites where you can purchase circuit board, than let me know.

Take care and Thanks for using Fixya.

Try this, look up inside behind the control board where the area is boxed off, this should be pushed towards the back for removal and access to the rear of the control board.I have also included a link to the service manual.

After turning off the proper 120 volt circuit at the service entrance.

drill out the electrical power line access hole marked on the cabinet

bottom or wall. Use a 1

"wood bit. To operate the electric drill. use
an extension cord connected to another circuit.

Had same problem with the Viking PV300001. Motor would hum but did not spin. Fixed it by changing the 5uf capacitor, which required removing the motor/fan assembly (loosen one wingnut + two barrel nuts)

What controls the speed of a range hood fan? , only when i push the hi button or the low speed button, the hi speed button only works. its a old model built in 1960 , can't find the model number ...

You will need to check inside the button contacts to identify if the control of current is by a series resistor or by the coil winding.
Since the high speed is working it is possible that the series resistor coil is open.So check for loss of contact continuity in the switch, if not you can use the present model of electronic fan controllers to give you a variable fan control. This can be connected to the main hi speed connection.
Tip: Identify the wattage and buy the regulator according to the specs.(42 inch type)

Need New Fan knob for Viking VWH3048

You could contat any viking dealer and they would be able to help you, or you could go online to viking.com; finally you might find a replacement knob at a hardware store like a Valu where they usually have a large assortment to choose from.

Fan switch not work - Viking 3048SS brand new range hood

There is the on off switch and the blower control that controls the speed of the fan. It is more than likley the blower control that would need replaced.

There could also be a wire disconnected in the hood.

Brand new Viking 3048SS hood - fan switch not working

think i would call viking back and ask for refund of inspection fee and go by the bad switch scenerio the electrician said new fan that would be considered flaws in workmanship in most states dont know where you are located but pretty much same anywhere most inspectors for these companies always try to blame problems off on installers hold your ground and make them fix it and refund that" inspection " fee I've been doing electrical work for several (20+) years it takes longer than 5 minutes to troubleshoot something like that good luck

BABT83.2AL Canopy Rangehood The fan/suction is not working. A slight straining noise is heard. The light is working as is the display panel.

These units have a history of fan failure due to inferior 220 volt Italian fan.

I have just had fan fail and retrofitted a ebmpapst blower fan model D2E146HT6702 which is readily available in Aus for around $120.

The fan speed control is by inverter variable output so you don't use all the speed select wires that this fan has. Connect the Red wire on the range hood to the Black on the motor (High speed winding) and the Black on the range hood to the Blue on the motor (Neutral) and the earth to the earth (Green).

Disconnect and toss the cap in the white enclosure under the PC board enclosure (the new fan has the cap on board). Don't know how easy to fit in the range hood as mine is in an acoustic fan housing in the roof (makes it wisper quiet when running)
