Could someone please provide me with an easy to follow step by step solution for transferring my video, from a Panasonic PVGS70D onto my laptop. The instruction is not detailed enough for this novus.
I have tried the USB cable,, doesn't work ,,,even bought one of those Pinnacle transfer machines,, but terrible MPEG-4 quality pictures. There must be a reasonable solution for this,, that I am just not getting as yet???
Which cables and which software do I need to achieve a supposedly simple transfer???
Many thanks
Usb will ONLY work for tranfering "pikts"
you "must"use a firewire cable,port,and software(sony vegas,pinnacle,ect')to"capture"or "save"the video to your laptop.(being you have a mini-dv tape cam)
heres the low-down,
unless your laptop has at least 1-gig ram,160+gig hard drive, firewire port, dvd burner,2.5ghz processor,,,it's goin to be a struggle.
capturing a good quality video to your comp hogs a LOT of space(25-35 gigs per hour of footage!),dvd creation (authoring)is another world!.
if you simply want to put somthing on the web,buy a nice photo camera with video recording,or a mini DVD disk camcorder,OR-a HDD(hard drive)camcorder,,,ALL the priors dont requier anything "special"to get it on to your laptop, and can be edited for posting by simple progs like "movie maker(xp,vist)or i movie(mac),but if you want a dvd of your final product, you MUST have a "authoring"prog like sony vegas or pinnacle.
--from my experience for tape camcorders, firewire is the only and best way to get it to your harddrive(set capture settings to "mpeg2,or,AVI"
good luck!!
