My webcam keeps shaking on my hp laptop - Samsung SyncMaster 955 DF 19" CRT Monitor

Go to the HP website and download the relevant drivers.

Usually you have a Webcam Software provided by HP, perhaps CyberLink, it will start at windows startup. I suggest using freeware CCLEANER: http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ This freeware program has many useful tools, a cleaner, registry, to clean jnuk and free up HDD space. In the TOOLS section, select STARTUP, disable ALL unnecessary startup programs/processes, including webcam/cyberlink. You can also use Task Manager or Services. You may find it easier to use CCLEARNER.

You will need to locate and install the "Driver" for that webcam... use the DVD's that came with your laptop, and use that to install the driver, the webcam should then work, also if it can be turned OFF ensure it is actually ON?

I understand your problem with the Webcam.

It appears the driver may be missing or corrupted.

Click on "Control Panel", then "DeviceManager", you will then see a list on all the devices on your computer. Look for the webcam, it may be listed with one of the listed items such as USB, double click to make sure it listed. When you find it, uninstall it and then reboot your computer.

After bootup, the webcam will be detected and Vista will go out and search for drivers.

remove and reinstall the driver in Device Manager

this is common problem among HP laptops, even i am getting the same issues every now and then. what to do? if this occurs, most of the time i just restart my laptop and it goes fine again after restarting. if its gone bad, i go ahead and reinstall my webcam driver. you can do this by:

1. click on start, all programs and hit recovery manager.
2. when the recovery manager wizard pops up, click on the advanced options button
3. select software program re-installation and click next twice
4. select HP Quickplay / DVD play (hp quickplay program includes hp webcam drivers as well). hit next twice
   
5. restart your computer.

again, either restarting the computer or reinstalling the webcam drivers work for me. should work for you too.
