SOURCE: IRiver Clix will not power on

I had the same problem, the player initially froze when switched on, then it was unrecognised by windows XP, finally the player would not power on or respond. It was returned to iriver europe and the motherboard was replaced. Works again! Very good service from iriver.

If you have a song up just click and hold to the right and a bunch of options should show up. The first option should be "play mode" and in there you can choose whether your playlist (or album, depending on how to navigated to the song) will shuffle and repeat.

SOURCE: Iriver Clix USB freeze

My screen also froze in the music menu, but when I connected to the PC, it was recognised and I could get into the files. Try resetting it by sticking a paper clip in the reset hole if you've not done it already. Mine's working fine so far....

SOURCE: Shuffle mode

Cut and modified from Douglas E. Levy at Amazon forum:
When you're in the Now Playing screen press and hold the Play/Pause button (right edge of screen). At the top of the slide-in menu you'll see Play Mode. Click Pause button again and scroll to "Normal" and choose it.

You should try to upload the newest firmware for your device. Simply go to irivers site, look under Iriver Clix Generation 1 support (I'm guessing you have the generation one... if not, just click generation two). Simple as that!

Iriver clix - dowloading music from laptop to iriver clix

If you set up Windows Media Player to autosync to the Clix, then, when you delete songs from the computer (including the wallpaper jpeg), the files also get deleted off the clix. Make sure you have Manual Sync enabled in Windows Media Player (or, more accurately, disable auto-sync).

If auto-sync is already disabled, then you have a good, old-fashioned DB corruption. You can reload the firmware from iRiver's website:

Sticky iRiver Clix

Take a blunt paperclip and gently insert it into the earphone out hole. Push in and there should be a click. The whole front will pop off. You have keep pressure on the paperclip and slide the faceplate out (The pressure is necessary to release all four of the catches). When putting it back keep constant pressure and slide back in. Quite a bit of force is necessary when clicking the face plate back into place.
