Printer portion The printer started spitting out black and white copies with some lines missing or half line. I assumed the cartrdge was the problem so I changed it but nothing changed.

I seem to have the same problem as Howie D. I had recently had the black ink cartridge refilled so I have tried 'clean print cartridge', 'align print cartridge' and 'restore factory defaults' to no avail. Any suggestions?

Black line on copy and fax functions

Clean the paper path for the scan/fax portion. The original goes in and as the document is "read" a spot of dirt is causing the black line down the page because it is picked up in the copy area.

The receiver of my FAXes says that there is a black line down the middle of each page. The FAX is a good copy-clear, etc.... but this line has to go. What can I do? Thanks, Donna

Dear Donna,
When a document is scanned from the top portion of the printer, it will loop around and output from underneath. The scanning glass on the far left side will have some debris on it. Lift the the lid exposing the glass portion, inspect for "stuff" on the glass, perhaps pen or white out. You can use a mild soap and lightly dampened cloth to remove any debris.
Good Luck,
Pre

Problem with printing black and white photos

Probably what happen is that you are printing black and white but you have your printer on color mode, try to set the printer to grayscale or black and white before print. The printer is tring to get the black and white by mixing all three color, that is the most comon way of make black, so, when one of the color is missing you see those red lines.
Also you will solve the problem replacing the color cartridge.

Automatic feed gives a white line in copy or scan

Although this problem would normally show as a black line on the copy, it's quite possible that there is something white (i.e. a piece of tape or paper) stuck on the scanner where the page feed passes through. Clean this area carefully with a soft cloth.

Copies

Hey :), I'd be happy to help. To make a copy you must lift the lid and lay down the item you want copied. And then on the side of the printer you will see a line of buttons , to copy the item you want, you have to let the printer know if you want the copy to be in black and white or color .To let the printer know of you want the copy to be in black and white or color, you have to select/press between the black ( black and white ) button in the line of buttons or the color button. Once you press wither of these buttons/options , the printer will automatically start the coping process. thanks! I hope this helps :)
