Printer works well except for printing pictures. Pictures turn red no matter what settings I use including B/W. Printer was new out of box. Have tried printing pictures from scanner, computer, camera, and on different types of paper.

If it is the first situation then pack it up take it back.
If it prints OK on its own but off via the computer -come back

Open printers window, right click on the psc printer icon , select printing preferences, click on paper\quality tab, select the paper size as 5x7, check the option as borderless printing and click on apply and then oK...

Make sure you are using the paper that come under the specifications of the printer (102 x 153 mm (4 x 6 inches) for a Photo Paper). Though you are using the correct paper and you are getting the same message, then just set the paper type as "Plain" and try to print from the photo paper. It works in most of the cases
There must have been a settings change in the printers properties or the programme that your are using to instruct the printer to print text only and not the pictures.
Sometimes printing web pages direct from the net have the problem, as pictures are left out purposley to aid printing speed.
