My Palm has recently started turning itself back on a few minutes after powering off. It then gets into an endless power-on, tim-off cyle. Consequently the battery discharges quickly. Maybe conincidence, but hot sync over WiFi no longer works. ANy thoughts greatly appreciated!!!
Resetting palm to default mode should fix this, there is a program installed that is running in background mode that is responsible for this, your job is to identify this program and remove it from memory and your backup or archive directory on your pc. good luck.

Re: Fails to stay turned-off
I Think it has to do with the hot sync not working anymore, the WiFi is looking for sync so it turns on the pda, in order to avoid it just enter in your setings for automatic networks search or somthing like this and disable it

Please check that the sleep timer did not somehow get set. If it's not the sleep timer, check if the panel stays ON longer after it's been off for awhile to cool down. Possibly a heat problem with the power supply or main board.
The same thing happened to me today. I was just sitting in my room then i hear a click and the cpu is on it stays on for a while then cuts off. It then cuts on and off with few seconds in between. It then stays in that way cutting and off for about a minite or two and then cuts off completely. A few minutes later it starts again. Also in the time it its off it will not turn on by pressing the power button. Sometimes it completly boots up by itself and then shuts itself down. If I shut it down manually while its on it'll turn itself on immeditaly after. What's going on! Will the warranty cover it? Do I need a new computer?
I too was having this problem all of a sudden. I found another post about an apparent bug in the Palm OS. Do you have a birthday or appointment in the calendar with reminders that started in 2009? Try removing the reminders or making them start in 2010. I did that and my Palm now stays off when I power it off.
Hi there! My guess would be dry joints (loose solder connections). First check the power supply, line stage or around the vertical or processor areas. Depending on the age of the set it may very well be due to general component failure. The latter may be a bit difficult to find. However start by replacing the electrolytic caps in the power supply. If all fails refer to repairer. Regards and good luck, JUS004.
1- Poke the hole in the back where it says reset. This will in essence reboot your Palm.
2- Make sure the Auto-Off after: is set to 2 minutes by going into the Preferences, Power section.
3- If your Palm is not holding charge, connect the Palm to charge it. Turn the Palm on and make sure the battery at the top has a lightning bolt going through it. This will let you know it is charging. Then, push the reset hole in the back to reset the Palm. This should reset the charging mechanism in the Palm and allow your battery to hold power.
If the Palm does not hold power after step 3, you may need to see about getting it serviced.
