Why is the light flashing on the right side

If the light flashing is the "light bulb like button" or the "Ready/Light" button, it means that either the printer is:

• The printer is busy receiving and processing data or printing.
• The printer is printing a directory, font list, menu settings pages, or Print Quality Test Pages.

If it's Busy:
• Wait for the message to clear.
• Press and release Cancel to cancel the print job.
• Press and hold Cancel to reset the printer.

If it's printing a directory, a font list, menu settings pages, or Print Quality Test Pages:
• Wait for the pages to print. The Busy message is displayed as the pages print. The Ready light is on when the
printing stops.
• Press and release Cancel to cancel printing.
• Press and hold Cancel to reset the printer.

MY SCANNER WILL SCAN PRINTS BUT NOT TRANSPARANCIES THE SCANNING LIGHT WORKS ON PRINTS BUT NOT TRANNYS, ANY IDEAS PLEASE

Flatbed scanners that can scan prints and transparences had two light sources.
One for normal prints (ie reflective light source, the light shines from under the glass to the print/photo and reflects off this print/photo to the optical sensor).
On a scanner that can scan transparences there is a second light source in the lid that shines through the transparences pass the glass to the optical sensor. The light source under the glass is not used in this case.
The scanning software automatically selects the right source when you select to scan prints or transparences.

The printer apear to be dead!

Buttons and lights on the printer Two buttons and three lights are located on the front of an HP Deskjet printer.
  • The lights tell when the printer is working or when it needs attention.
  • The buttons help control the printer.

When the problem is corrected and the top cover is closed, the light will stop blinking. Troubleshooting blinking printer lights Blinking lights Reason c00123895.jpg

All lights are off. The printer is off (asleep).

Press the POWER buttonc00123886.jpg to turn the printer on.

The printer should turn on automatically when a print job is sent to it. c00123898.jpg

The POWER (top) light is on. The printer is idle.

The printer is ready to print a document. c00123900.jpg

The POWER (top) light is blinking. The printer is busy printing.

Allow enough time to print. When a document has many fonts or graphics or uses complex color such as a color photo, it takes longer to begin printing. c00123902.jpg

The PRINT CARTRIDGE (bottom) light is blinking. Possible causes:

  • The front cover is open. Make sure the front cover is completely closed.
  • The print cartridge is missing. Make sure the print cartridge has been installed correctly.
  • The print cartridge is broken or incompatible. Lift the front cover, and wait for the print-cartridge cradle to slide out. Check the part numbers on the print cartridge:

Black: 51645A

Color: C1823D,

If the print cartridges are compatible and correctly installed, they may be defective. Try replacing the print cartridges.

If none of the above suggestions fix the problem, and, if the error message still occurs, it may be a hardware failure. Call the HP Customer Support Center.

Light printing

I would suggest using the printer's menu and checking both Direct Print->Print Quality and Direct Print->Brightness as these may be set too low or too high. Change these values, 1 at a time, and do a test print to check the print density
