Instructions

- 1 Unscrew the seat bolt from the rear fender using a Torx driver.
- 2 Push down on the front of the seat, and pull it toward the rear fender until it can be removed completely from the motorcycle.
- 3 Unscrew the pair of bolts from the top of the battery box cover using a Torx driver. Pull the cover off of the battery box.
- 4 Look for the jack bolt behind the battery box on the right side of the frame. Twist the bolt counterclockwise with a socket wrench to lower the battery box away from the frame.
- 5 Unscrew the negative lead from the battery's negative terminal using a Phillips screwdriver. Set the negative lead away from the battery and the motorcycle's frame. Unscrew the positive lead from the battery's positive terminal using a Phillips screwdriver. Pull the positive lead away from the battery.
- 6 Pull the battery out of the battery box.

You could get away with it for awhile, but I would only use oil formulated for the primary chain case, and for that part of the machine, I stick with Harley brand, dont forget , u got clutch plates in there u dont want slipping. For the tranny you wanna use a good grade gear oil (75W-90, 75W-110,75W-140, SAE 190 & SAE 250) .... it'll better handle the torque requirements. I use Redline Gear Oil and shifting has improved noticeably

Use 1 quart of 75-90 gear oil. I use Mobile 1 full synthetic.

SOURCE: looking for best synthetic replacements

Its all a matter of opinion. Best to my Knowledge is Mobil 1 V-twin formula 20W50 Full Synthetic. Holds up better then even Syn 3 Harley Oil. But if thats not available then Stick with Harleys Syn 3

What weight do i use for transmission gear oil

Harley's Formula + or Syn 3. Syn 3 can be used in the oil tank, primary housing and transmission. Trans will take just shy of a quart.

Oil drips form primary case on 05 dyna low rider

Very little, if any, unless the trans was over filled, then the oil may come out of the breather hose. Did you check the shift shaft seal when you had the primary off?

What is the recomended oil for a 1997 harley davidson heritage softail classic

Harley recommends you use their 20w50 or Syn 3 (synthetic) oil. If you use Syn 3, you can also use it in the trans and primary. If you use conventional oil, Harley's Formula Plus goes in the trans and primary. Truth be told, any good high quality motorcycle oil (Amsoil, etc) made for air cooled engines will work in the crankcase.

Oil has gotten to my stater and has ran out of the stater plug, How can I fix it

If it is just leaking a little, remove the primary cover. Push the stator plug into the primary housing. Clean the plug and hole it goes into with brake cleaner. Apply black silicone to the outside of the stator plug and push back into the hole. Replace the primary cover, and after the silicone is dry, refill the primary. If oil is leaking alot, and the bike is a Twin Cam, check to make sure vent hose on the trans top cover isn't plugged. Twin Cam primaries vent through the trans and if the vent hose is plugged, oil will be under pressure in the primary and force itself out around the stator plug.

The Drain plug is at the bottom back of the Primary. After Drianing the old oil remove the bonnet cover and add one OT of Oil.

look on the left rear of the bottom of the trans pan under neath the bike kick stand side, ,the trans drain is midway on the bottom right side of the trans pan,can send a picture of it if needed,just send a reply.

What kind of oil sould I use for my victory hammer 08'

Use a good synthetic oil, 20W50 is the best weight because it can be used in the motor, tranny, and wet primary. AMSOIL is a great product to use. It's a little pricy but more than worth it.
