Intel motherboard D845GRG. Reinstalled WinXPpro, new hard drive. Cannot find working audio driver. Intel website lists one driver, this will not work. Cannot find any other driver. HELP!

You need to download your motherboard driver according to the operating system you are using. Otherwise it will not work properly.

Unfortunately, you have Soundmax AD1981A AC97 sound. The only download I can find for you, which you may ahve already have tried, is here

You can give it a try if you haven't already. The Soundmax sound is no longer supported at all. You may want to consider a sound or graphics card if all else fails. Good luck.

control panel sounds and audio,volume you can adjust the volume or advanced,speakers select appropriate speakers or audio you will find 3 drop down lists make sure you have selected the right speakers or control panel,administrive tools,computer management,device manager scroll to sound,video and game cotrollers could be a yellow question mark? right click to re-install drivers

Click here and select "Operating System" and "Type of Download". From the list choose the drivers you need.

Scroll down the list for sound driver. If you wish to use Intel's driver instead of Gateways click on the next link;

The audio driver is listed as number 5.
You should try Gateway's driver first even though the E-2300 uses the Intel board.
Intel customizes boards for each manufacture.

According to Inel this board does not support Vista. They have no drivers available. Sorry.

othervise re format yours whole system low level
and re install win xp or whataver you want
