Ok I have this problem with trying to chat on XBOX live and me and my friend are trying to talk and it wont let me join the chat and the day before it wouldn't even let me talk at all, what the hell is going on?
This problem occurs when your NAT settings on your router are "restricted". Open port 3074 on your router for UDP and TCP and the problem will be resolved! The ironic thing is that I am on here leaving this solution because my Xbox is currently broken! Microsoft suck I have had 5 Xbox consoles and they have all broken I suggest getting a PS3!

First off: Do a hardware check. Are you both plugging directly into a cable modem / DSL modem or are you both using routers? If either of you is using a router there are several items to check: Go to your "System Settings" for your xbox360 and go to "Network Settings" and look for the IP address that your particular console is receiving from your router. Then go into your routers settings (usually typing in 192.168.1.1 in a browser will get you there) and look for "DMZ" and place the IP address from your console in that box. This will allow all traffic in and out to that particular IP. If you provide this additional information I could help you more specifically: Router Make and Model, IP address of xbox360 console, if you are using wired or wireless, internet service provider.
