Err on display when insert tape, no functions work.

Power switch powers unit on and off. When I insert a tape (with power on or off), it loads successfully and the displays shows Err, the PLAY, FF, Rewind or EJECT buttons do nothing. When I power off, the tape advances for about 10 seconds and then ejects, no damage to tape. Have cleaned the belt, no change. Same results with multiple brand tapes. Unplugging for days does not help.

Two things. First there is some damage to the tape transport mechanism. Only a good look around will confirm this. Secondly a faulty mode switch.

Thanks Grubhead - you're a life saver, the mode switch was dirty, lots of grease, found a youtube video on where it is, how to take apart and clean, works fine now. Thanks again for taking the time to reply.

SOURCE: VCR Malfunctioning

The power supply is starting to fail. If you can solder, you should be able to fix this. If memory serves me correctly, there are 2 capacitors that may be causing this. Look for a cap in the 22ufd range on the primary side of the power supply. This cap will be a 160V electrlytic cap. Replace it with a new one. That may resolve it. In the meantime, I'll look up your model for additional specifics.

ERR on the treadmill when I switch on. how do I fix and get working

Any other codes displayed? Safety key fit firmly in? Go to the front of the treadmill turn off the power switch off and unplugg the unit for at least 30 seconds then plug in the unit turn power switch back on. If this does not clear the error code your unit will most likely need to be serviced.

HDR-HC1 Sony camcorder- reinsert the cassette error message

Bill,

The problem is with the S-reel. Take the tape out, remove the battery, and give it a slight bump. This usually fixes the issue for a couple of weeks. I haven't heard of any permenant fixes. I took my cam into circuit city (before they closed) twice for the same issue. Very frustrating when you don't know what the issue is.

Error E3 on Mitsubishi HS-U795

Try this :
If your VCR malfunctions, try the following steps prior to contacting your Mitsubishi Dealer:
1 Check the Trouble Checks below to see if there is a solution to the current problem that you are
experiencing.
2 If the problem is not addressed on the Trouble Checks, the safety circuits in the VCR may be in
operation, thus please try the following: (the clock setting and the timer recording will be deleted.)
1 If possible, press EJECT on the front panel and remove the tape.
2 Press TIMER RESET on the rear panel with a pencil or a ball point pen.
3 If a tape is not loaded, press POWER to turn the power on. If a tape is loaded, wait about 1 minute
until the tape protecting function is completed, then press POWER.
3 You may also try the following procedure if the above steps did not resolve the problem (All settings will
be reset to the default settings.).
1 Press POWER on the front panel continuously for about 8 seconds until the current time display on
the front panel shows "- : - -."
2 If a tape is not loaded, press POWER to turn the power on. If a tape is loaded, the tape protecting
function will work and "99" will appear on the front panel display to begin count down. Wait about 1
minute until it reaches "00" to show the tape protecting function is completed, then press POWER.
If the problem with your VCR persists, contact your Mitsubishi dealer for assistance.

Im looking for error codes.
