I had the problem where when i would try to use my remote, it would say "check remote2". I've got a DMR-E55. I called panasonic and they told me to hold down the "enter" and "2" button for about 10 seconds. then it worked. hope it works for you too.
Im having a problem with my Panasonic DMR-ES30V, I Have a universal remote that goes to it, but it wont work anymore, it keeps saying 2CHK Remote, is there any kind of way I can reset the whole thing, cause it didnt come with the real remote?

I'm not sure the question - perhaps your TV is set to the DVD2 input and it's not a DVD issue.
If so, using your TV remote, push the "input" button until you reach your desired input.
If you point the remote towards sensor, simultaneously hold down the number (1, 2, etc) you want AND the enter button for 5 or more seconds it should switch to the number pressed. Remember if you have a second one, make sure it's off or put towel over its remote sensor. Sue
Press functions,go `to others`select set up,go`to others`select remote control and change to dvd2.Then on the r/c press and hold enter and 2 at the same time for 3secs or more.
Look into your manual that came with your dvd recorder for DMR-E80H, Page 46, Changing the Remote Control Code. My child played with a remote control as well and reconfigured it as well. In the manual, you have explanation how to configure your remote control again to work.
