Unable to re-install Canon MP600 printer after hard-drive re-format
I just had my pc's hard-drive re-formatted after a crash and was assured all necessary drivers were downloaded from Dell's support website, but am unable to re-install either my
Canon MP600 multi-function printer or the Dell
720 printer that came with the pc. Apparently,
my pc is unable to locate either device no matter what USB port I use and thus will not download the printer's driver either from each printer's cd or the Canon and Dell websites. Is it possible then that my pc is missing the USB driver, and if so, does anyone know which download on the Dell website is the correct one (there appears to be over 70 drivers and
downloads)? I called Dell tech support, but
they weren't overly helpful, probably because I
have an expired warranty. Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all!
The drivers can be found on http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&ServiceTag=&SystemID=PRN_INKJET_720&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid= or else try http://tinyurl.com/2r3g7t ,this should help u installing the drivers

Re:
If the drivers are unavailable from the manufacturer check http://driverguide.com for downloads. Usually you can find drivers there that are no longer available from the mfg.
If you have a backup of the files you can install the drivers manually from the following locations.
Click on the unknown device, or click update driver and point the search to the following locations from your backup.
windows\inf
windows\options\cabs
windows\system32\drivers
If you took your computer to a local shop I would check to make sure the idiots didn't disconnect your usb ports if they are not integrated into the board.

The copier might have it's own facility for formatting the hard drive but the best way to format any drive is to remove it and fit it as a slave drive to a desktop or laptop PC and use the computer to format the drive with the requirement that if the software it contains in 64 bit the PC will also need to be running 64 bit software.
Formatting the drive, depending upon the type of format, is destructive of data. There are specialized recovery programs that can sometimes save the old FAT tables, but chances are you are out of luck. Many times these external drives fail because they are not built to handle the heat and shock/vibration that comes with being encased and mobile. Often it is not the drive itself that fails, rather the SATA/USB controller in the enclosure. I have seen many individuals pull their "failed" drives out of the enclosure, install it internally, and find all the data is still there.
Disconnect the printer from the PC, and delete the printer you have installed & remove all the software previously installed on the PC. Reinstall the download "Drivers & Software".
format your laptops's harddrive and install the operating system. When computer crashes very often, it is better to format it and install the operating system. Don't opt for quick format. This will help you to detect bad sectors. If there is bad sector, you have to replace the hard disk.
It sounds like your pc is trying to boot from the formatted hard drive. Go into your BIOS and make sure both the hard drive and CD drive are detected. Make sure your CD drive is set as the first boot drive and disable all other drives for booting.

low-lable format can solve ur problem.
at first create windows98 startup disk from any win98 pc or use windows98 bootable cd. and download disk manage 9.54 for samsung hard disk. and copy it in a cd. then boot ur pc with windows98 bootable disc or startup disk. then inseart disk manager cd go to cd rom drive give "dm" commnad. run low lable format form advance --->utility ----->maintanance------> low lable format. after complete low lable format (it can take saveral time) then creat partition and format each partion.
It sounds like a folder on your hard drive got renamed or moved/deleted. Open your Applications folder and look for a folder named Canon Utilities. Open the MP Navigator 3.0 file. Click on the Preferences button in the lower right corner. Click on the "Color Button" (or "Black Button") tab, and select the "Save to PC" option for "Event:". Verify that the folder indicated next to "Save in:" exists (this is the 'path specified' that the advisory message is referring to). If not, change it to a location that exists on your computer.
You need to format the drive first before you can use it. If you are using windows xp, right click on the drive E and then click on Format. You can put a check mark on the box next to quick format if you like it faster and then click on start.
