My receiver speaker on my Treo 600 randomly went out. I can listen to other people only when I use speaker phone, which is annoying! People say they can still hear me even though I can't hear them. The ring and the other random sounds (like when you're in an application type stuff) still works, it's just the receiving speaker. Any clues on what to do? I would like to be able to fix this myself if at all possible, but I'd be willing to ship it off.
I had the problem. One of two things is wrong: 1. The contact springs on the back of the speaker (inside the case) have slipped off their contact points; 2. Or your speaker has died. Go to mytreo.net and in the TREO 600 discussion group, find the BUZZ FIX. It will give you instructions with photos for opening the case and performing the BUZZ FIX. DO THAT! If you don't have the buzz now, you will! Check the springs on the back of the speaker to make sure that they haven't been stretched out of shape. Compress them a little to make sure that they will line up with their respective contacts. Clean the contacts with the eraser of a lead pencil. Reassemble the phone. If you still have no tones or the ability to hear you have a bad speaker. Order a new one, and replace the bad one. I had the problem, and this is how I fixed it. It really is fairly easy.
