Camera won't format media

I purchased a Konica Minolta Dimage A200 and didn't recognize the media initially, but after a reset, it says it is formatting the card, but nothing happens. The screen says it is formatting, but the hour glass does not change and the progress bar doesn't move, but the red light on the camera flashes.

I have formatted the original CF card on the computer and purchased a new card, same issue.
I think it is a software issue with the camera, but don't know how to proceed.

Here is the link to the user manual if you need it; http://ca.konicaminolta.com/support/manuals/digital_cameras/dimage-a/dimage_a200/A200_Eb.pdf First thing to try is cleaning the electrical contacts on the card, gently with a soft dry cotton cloth. Check page 138 of the manual for instructions to reset to factory default settings - also worth trying. Have you tried formatting the card on a PC instead of the camera? What type of card are you using? The camera is compatible directly with CF cards and Microdrives, and with an adaptor can use SD and MMC cards. Possible problems are generally different for each type of card. That said, if the card will not format on a pc, then unless it is somehow password protected or write protected (depends on card type), the fault must lie with the card. Only way to be absolutely sure is to try a new card in the camera, if that also doesn't format then there is a more serious problem. From what you have described so far, it sounds as if you have a CF card, and it is faulty - these cards do have a tendency to do this. Please post back with some more details so I can be more certain. Hope this helps :)

ps if it is a CF card, forget the cleaning the contacts part - you can't

    Next thing to try is updating the firmware for the camera;
    http://ca.konicaminolta.com/support/amer...

The 1.01 upgrade supports CF cards larger than 4MB - could this have been the problem?

    Hope this is it :)

My camera does not recognizes the memory card can not take any photos

The card could be locked, there is a little sliding switch on the side of the card. Is the card formatted? Usually on a new card you have to put it into the camera and go through the menus to the format card menu.

HI i need the manual for my konica minolta dimage a2 thank you

Good Afternoon,
Because Konica Minolta no longer exists in the photographic industry, many of their support channels have been filtered over to Sony Corporation, who was the purchasing agent of their photography division.
Below is a link to where you can download an English manual for your DiMage A2:
http://ca.konicaminolta.com/support/manuals/digital_cameras/dimage-a/index.html
And the one you want can be followed to this link:
http://ca.konicaminolta.com/support/manuals/digital_cameras/dimage-a/dimage_a2/D_A2_E.pdf
or you can simply click on it from the first URL provided.
Hope this helps!

My Konica Minolta Dimage A200 do no recognize the memory cards. Can anybody help e to solve this problem?

Format the cards in the camera. Make sure you download any pictures that might be on the cards first. Use a card reader if necessary.

Some brands cannot be used by some cameras. You should stick with the big brand names like Sandisk.
