Samsung 54" Projection TV (PCN5425R)

I was recently watching tv and all of a sudden the picture went blurry and then shut off on me. I thought maybe it was a fluke, turned it back on and it turned off within a second or two. I unplugged the tv for about a minute, tried to turn the tv back on and the red light on the front blinked a few times and then stayed solid. I called an electroni place and they said to count the blinks and it might offer some info on what the problem was, I counted, I think 6 at one point, but now it stayed solid. I am hoping this is a problem that I can fix myself, since the place I need to repair it at is an hour away and I only have a car....just won't fit. If anyone could help, I would appreciate it.

Sears does inhome service, if you do try to fix it, there is usually a board mounted to the back of the tubes (above the others), if it has this convergence board, try unplugging the red connector with the blue wire and turning set back on, if it powers with a 3d looking picture, you have a bad convergence module. Other than that you may want to call a repairman.

I have a samsung dlp Model no. Pcn5425r The problem I am having is that the picture is all distorted with curved edges and blurry doubled images. I thought it was a convergence problem so I replaced it...

You don't have a color wheel in this model. There is probably a fuse blown that you missed or a resistor in the circuit outside the convergence IC's (STK 392-040). Did you press the perfect focus in the convergence part of the menu?

Problem with my Samsung PCN5425R 54 in. projection. I am seeing double and pictured is bowed and I see red and green colors on the screen. Is this the convergence board. Is this difficult to fix? I am not...

Your convergence ic’s have failed, this is a common problem with most all projection tv’s, the repair is involved. I suggest in your case calling a local repair shop.

Convergence problems

Did you buy the board new or used? It could also be your convergence Ics and not the convergence that is causing the shutdown . The convergence ICs are not located on the convergence Board.

Samsung Rear Projection screen went out.

MrPeab,
Where did you purchase the convergence amps previously? Your set takes two STK392-040 Sanyo amps and there is a high probability that that is the problem here again. The convergence amps for these units are really critical and chinese knock-offs are abundant. Is it possible that you didn't get Sanyo originals?
Another thought is what about the heat sink used when they were installed? Did you do the installation or have it done professionally?
Bill

I doubt seriously that unplugging the unit will have any affect.

Blurry picture

you probably have a bad convergance board you can get one at partstore.com but if the color is realy out of wack you will need the board it is very easy to install even for a novice unplug the set take off the lower back hte board is on the upper right only one screw and a couple of plugs but first try to adjust the lens have someone watch and loosen the wing nuts and turn the lene,s slowly one at a time i started with the red one you need to have the set on when you do this i replaced the board first works great now

My 54" PCN5425R TV will not turn on

You will need to locate the convergence amp IC's, the STK392-040, and replace both of them. The originals IC's can be ordered here http://www.mcminone.com/search.asp?keyword=STK392-040&btnSubmit.x=4&btnSubmit.y=6 Good Luck
