Moisture is unlikely as the milspec test hoses these PC's down with gale force rain to pass certification. I would look into a cracked keyboard mainboard, can you lift the keyboard out and look at the backside? Good luck.

Did you by chance have a drop of liquid drop ontot he keyboard...such localized keyboard failure usually indicated moisture has gotten tot he dielectric material...I would suggest to place your computer screen up, keyboard in direct sunlight for about an hour ....place a towel over the screen as not to damage it...and let the sun's radiant energy promote the moisture fromthe keyboard ,,,also do not turn machine on again until removed from sunlight, and allowed to cool for about 90 minutes...

Keyboard for lenovo R500 laptop not working

What do you mean not working? Is it that certain keys don't work, or the whole keyboard does not work?

Maybe your keyboard has been hijacked by a virus. Have you tried booting up in Safe Mode to see if it works?

Turn off the computer, then hit the power buttonto turn it back on and immediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly untilyou see SAFE MODE. Take the Safe Mode option and let it boot up. SafeMode will look different to you, the screen will be darker and the iconsbigger, this is normal

have you tried pressing the F4 key or the shift key after stanby mode
you might have to uninstall your keyboard restart your computer then reinstall it
try blowing out all of the dust from your keyboard using a fine air blower from an air compressor making VERY sure there is no MOISTURE in the lines.
dust causes static which causes lots of problems with a computer and its parts
click start control panel administration tools computer management device manager scroll to keyboards you might see a yellow exclamation or question mark or red x you will need to update driver right click to update driver
make sure the lead connection is secure and dust free (if applicable)
make sure the usb device is inserted correctly into the usb port (if applicable)
if your computer came with a motherboard disk the drivers could be on it
or restart you computer tap the f8 key repeatedly to enter safe mode where the only things working will be your keyboard and mouse allowing you an attempt to repair your computer
or you could restart you computer you will see on the scree to press a certain key to enter set uppress and hold that key to enter BIOS you can load failsafe or optimised defaults
hope this helps

Certain keys such as the "N" key and some others

Yes, a can of compressed air may solve it. Usually for me I need to remove the trouble keys and soak them in soapy water, dry them, and put them back on the keyboard. Be careful when popping them off as you can break them and have to order a new keyboard.
Please leave good feedback! :) Thank you!

Replace the keyboard. Something is wrong with the encoder chip inside, and new keyboards are so inexpensive there is no point trying to repair one when it goes bad.

I spilled coffee in my compaq laptop./ The computer works and will turn on however the keys are sticking. so I cant type a sentence. Is there a qucik fix for this>

take your laptop to the expert who can deal with laptop well.don't try to clean the keyboard yourself because it is easy to remove the keys from the keyboard but then you won't be able to fix them on the keyboard properly. If you still try to remove the keys you can damage the keyboard's key sensors.

Fujitsu M2011 netbook keyboard/function key problem

The function key could be damaged or stuck down. If not, try going to Device Manager. Right click on the Keyboard and choose Properties. Click on Update Driver as it might find something. Reboot the computer. If that doesn't work, go to Device Manager, right click on the keyboard, choose Uninstall, and reboot the computer. When it starts up and sees the keyboard and loads a driver(s) for it, it might fix it. Good luck.

Cannot type certain letters

Hi,

Verify that the key is not working in more than one application. It is possible that some keys may not be used in all programs. This generally always applies to the Function keys F1 through F12. If not all keys are working in all programs and you have Windows, attempt to boot the computer to a MS-DOS prompt or Safe Mode and test the keyboard in DOS.

If it appears that a substance has been spilt into the computer.

If any type of liquid has been spilt within the keyboard you can attempt to clean it . however, because of the dramatic decrease of cost with computer keyboards, it is recommended that you simply replace the keyboard to help prevent frustration and possibility of failure again in the future.

Thanks,
CF
