i dont know whats wrong, it was working one day and the next it wont turn on. i just got a new battery for it and it was working perfectly. the only sign of life i can get from it is when i take out the battery and put it back in. for five seconds it sounds like it will boot up but then it makes a beep shuts down. it doesnt even stay on long enough for the screen to turn on. i thought it might be a bad battery so i took it off and plugged it in with the power cord and it still does the same thing. i was just wondering what would be the problem and if its fixable.

Re: Acer 3500 series wont turn on.
Yes, it sounds like the mother board battery has failed,,,either remove your keyboard and it is a round battery in a plastic holder,,,remove carefully u can buy it at walmart for less than 5 bux replace, re-install keyboad and turn on...good luck

The charging system on your vehicle is computer controlled . Your vehicle is a rolling computer .The instrument cluster has a microprocessor inside , there is also a body computer ( SJB ) smart junction box , Engine computer etc... they all communicate on a serial data network , C.A.N - controller area network . It's hard to know what's wrong when you don't know how it works . There could be codes stored in the computers , these will not always turn on the check engine light . The battery is not compatible with your laptop or maybe defective. As you mention, you purchase this battery and I believe they will replace the battery. Just show them the problem and insist that the battery you purchase is not charging, sure they will replace it.
Very possible that something has short circuited on the motherboard. I would also try re-seating the memory located on the bottom of the laptop(which could be loose explaining the intermittent nature of the issue). On an IBM I once fixed that had the same issue I took out the CMOS battery and battery for one week and then re-installed and that fixed the issue. But good luck to you!
Hi, First of all you have to determine whether it's the battery, charger or the laptop itself. Remove the battery and boot the laptop on AC power only, if the laptop boots up you can rule out the charger and the laptop, you may need a new battery if that is the case.
I had to buy an new ac/dc plug piece off of ebay (cost only like $3 bucks) to sodder onto the mother board of my Acer. Somehow the little plastic/metal piece you plug into your computer comes off the mother board really easy. Acer wanted me to purchase a whole new mother board (at frigging $350), which, frankly wasn't an option. So I bought the little plug gizmo, soddered it on, and I'm doing good now.
remove the battery and see it the power comes on, if so bad battery, check the connector where the power plugs into the laptop, sometime this breaks or has a cold solder joint, you can test this by wiggling and looking to see if the power lights up. last and worst case is a bad main board.
