Before you buy an agitator. Check the dogs that catch and cause the agitation motion. They cost 50 cents a piece and usually there aer five. Go on youtube and look for replacing dogears in washing machine agitator. Idid and thats all it was $1.00 2 dog ears wore out causing the agitator to slip. It took 30 min to fix. Hope this helps. The dogears get wore to round and will not hold! Brian Thompson

I have a Kenmore model stylemaster 909610. It fills normally, but doesn't agitate properly, it moves, but barely, no odd noises or anything, just barely agitates and the clothes don't move it's so weak....

If you can move the agitator in both directions, you may just have some bad agitator dogs. They are located under the dispenser cap, below another cap and remove a 7/16 bolt to replace.

Whirlpool stylemaster 4217141 REV A Agitator/spin cycle broken upper agitator spins by hand but tub won't spin

open the lid and get a model #, sound like all you need is agit dogs # 80040. then remove top of the agitator, could be a softener dispenser. under that you will find a plastic cap, pull up with needle nose pliers. under that you will find a 7/16 or 1/2 bolt, remove the bolt and the agitator can be lifted off. the agitator can now be split into to pieces, turn the top half over and the assy with the agit dgs will fall out. simply replace and reassemble and DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN BOLT. just snug it up. should be fine.

Mad dog kit? Bird dog kit? Some kinda dog or somthin'?

Your model number will be located somewhere around your tub opening under the lid. The parts you are looking for are called "agitator dogs" (yes, there is such a thing). There are four of them located under the agitator cap that help grip the agitator shaft when turning. This causes the agitator to crank in one direction during the wash cycle. The part number for the entire repair kit is 2744 and costs $16.80. This includes all the washers and bushings as well as the dogs. If you just want to purchase the dogs, the part number is 3109 and costs $5.20. For a little more, the entire kit would be a better recommendation. You can get everything you need at repairclinic.com. If you cannot locate your model number, type in the brand name of your washer (i.e., Whirlpool Stylemaster Washer) in the "Search" window and you will find what you need. These parts are the same identical parts that your major appliance service companies use, but cost much less (I should know, I used to work for one of them). Let me know if you decide to repair on your own and I can give you follow-up advice on how to take the agitator apart and replace the parts you need.
