View finder blurry/black - images blurry with rainbow horizontal lines

This camera has been working great for the last 3 years. All of a sudden I turned it on and the view finder is black and the lcd screen is blurry and motions up and down, can't make out what your seeing. The images turn out with rainbow colored horizontal lines and can't make out what the image was - I have tried reseting it, changing out the battery and memory cards. Please help!

Next to the viewfinder ther is a diopter adjustment so you can change the focus in the viewfinder. this is so if you need glasses the camera can be set for you. Start by focusing the camera on something, then slide to turn the diopter adjustment until it looks sharp and try not to bump it.

Hi
I have got an S5000 that I can still view previously taken pictures from the card, but when trying to take pictures the screen and view finder shows a peculiar distorted purple and green picture and any picture taken is just a green blur.
I contacted Fuji and they say they can repair it for £90 (about $120)

Image through view finder is blury

Hey DarsCanonFix,
This camera does have a diopter adjustment on the viewfinder to correct for bad eyesight. I would try adjusting this since it could have been accidentally set incorrectly. If this doesn't work the camera might just need a good cleaning by an authorized service technician. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan

Black and white lines in view finder

Screen or main board failure. If it is still under warranty you may have a chance bit if over a year or so old - not worth considering for repair- though you could try. take a look through the file here http://www.fixya.com/support/p423-nikon_coolpix_5600_digital_camera/solutions
