My front speakers will not work. This happened in a course of a day. I got out of the car and they worked. When I got back in and started the car up they did not work. Did anyone have this problem? Someone mentioned water in the door is this true?

try different speaker if works .its the speaker. if another speaker does the same .your radio is the problem.

Well, time, patience, and past knowledge... allowed me to determine that the voice coil of the woofer was bad. I wasalmost able to blob solder at the coi, to get it fixed. But, it never got reliable. So, I shall replace both sides with better speakers.... I was able to hear the car's 'chime' in the tweeter, though barely. That led me on to disassemble the door, and learn more, like that the door is wired by a bi-amp situation....

I have an 05 Cobalt that just experienced the same problem. I had my door panels off and my speakers appear to be dead.
If you have a multimeter, you can pull the speaker out and test to see if you get resistance across the two terminals. It should say on the speaker what the resistance should be (most likely 4 ohms). If you get no reading, you most likely will have to replace the speaker.
You could also test for AC voltage on the speaker wires. When the stereo is on, and set to a reasonably loud value, you should get a few volts. If you don't get any reading at the door, it may be either the wiring or the stereo. To determine which it is, you will have to take readings at the stereo output.
Hope this helps.

check wiring on passengers side near the rear hatch speaker, the rear door speakers are run through them also. i had the same problem and it was a unplugged connector at that location
