The TV powers on, then shuts down. It use to stay on for anywhere from 30min. to 2hr. We had another TV that did the same, and the power switch was changed, solving that problem. Could this be the same?
Anything is posible with your tv.
i had repaired some of these models, problems are common but solutions different.
1-mostly it is of bad soldeer connection in your horizontal output section. see if this will help solving the problem.
2-try to look for a defective cap in the oscilating section. if i am not mistaken it is 10uf/100V.
3-a defective thyristor in the power can rush too much voltage through the system what makes to go in protection.
succes and enjoy

It is a possiblity, depends upon why the set is shutting its self off, if for instance with your other set, the micro was probably recieveing a power off command from the button due to some moisture in the switch or something, it could be a bad connection in certian circuits that power the set also, you might try to lightly touch the power button to see if it is "flakey", if not, might require a trip to the repairman.

My idea worked...I purchased a new switch, soldered it in, and the TV has worked since.
Thanks leslake for your response!
