Outside caller hears themselves in an echo

Our business deploys several Plantronics cs55 model headsets, recently we upgraded our nortell phone system to Cisco. We are using the Cisco 7941 model phone with the headsets, A majority of them are working with out issue, but there are a few complaints that when a call comes in and it is answered on the plantronics cs55 headset, the calling party hears themselves as an echo, it usually corrects itself within 30 seconds but is extreamly unprofressional and frustrating for the users. I have tested every possible levels setting on the headset both speaker volume as well as reciever and have not been able to resolve this issue, any suggestions would be appreciated

Echo is usually caused by the transmit (speak) level on the unit being set too high.

1. First, try lowering the volume of the telephone. If you still hear an echo, adjust the volume of the headset itself.

2. The master transmit controls of the headset are the ABCD switch settings on the bottom of the base. A is the lowest and D is the highest setting.

3. You can fine tune this setting with the plus (+) and minus (-) buttons on the back of the charging base.

4. If this doesn't fix the echo, try moving the configuration dial on the left side of the charging base. The recommended setting for most phones is 1.

tip

What to check if Plantronics cordless mic does not work but earpiece works fine

If the party you call cannot hear you, check two things:

1- while on phone with the party, change the configuration dial on the headset base to 1. (We have Nortel phones and it must be on 1 for headset and mic to work with Nortel phone sets.)
2- Push IN on the headset volume control. Pushing IN activates or deactivates to MUTE feature on the headset.

Hope this tip helps you.

Cs540 caller hears echo

Hello, if they are hearing echo, you are speaking too loud. Or have the receiver too close and talking too loud. Or the person on the other end of the line has phone line problems.

I have Nortel T7316E phones and Plantronics HW251N headsets. Is there a way to increase the volume for the mic so that the caller can hear us better?

The A10 direct connect cord used on the Nortel T7316E primarily will increase the speaker volume. If the problem is that your microphone is too low, you will need to use an amplifier, the M22. Remember that the amplifier needs to be connected through the HANDSET jack not the headset jack. Here is the link for the Plantronics M22.

We have numerouse CS55 headsets that keep cutting out when speaking on the phone. Choppy sound, missing parts of words etc. Intermittent, will be good for 5 -10 minutes, then bad again.

The first thing to try is resetting the CS55. We hear this a lot and once reset, it usually takes care of the problem. It's equal to a ctrl+alt+del on a computer. Click on the following for detailed instructions and photos:

I am getting feedback and an echo in my Plantronic CS55 wireless

Had similar issue.

This how I fixed it
1) set bottom mic to A
2) set dial on the side of CS55 to "Setting 1" most typical
3) set sound lever on the back to "1"
4) played with mic control on the back until quality became sufficient

Caller can't hear me when I talk.

Check to see where the CS55 is plugged into in your phone (The cord coming from the back).  You should NOT have it going into the headset jack of the phone.  It should go into the phone receiver jack, and the phone receiver coily cord should go into the front of the CS55 base unit.

Phone doesn't ring in earpiece

Only if you have an HL-10 lifter installed... you will then be able to hear three short beeps in your ear to indicate the phone is ringing.

Best Buy: Plantronics Problem

James, plug the phone cord that comes out of the back of the CS55 base into the handset port of the Cisco phone, not the headset port.  Then plug the coily cord from the cisco receiver into the front of the CS55.  Don't use the "Headset" button on your Cisco phone, just lift the receiver off.
