Sadly there is no "cheap" solution. These cameras are built en mass and repairing them is most times more expensive than teh entire camera. the screens are very fragile and very expensive to by, so the bad news is that it may be cheaper to buy a new camera than to have yours fixed. (crazy isnt it) Still, if you are intent on fixing it, you can call your local electronics dealer and ask who looks after warentee items for them (not that it will be fixed under warentee) but it will give you the name of the company that fixes electronics locally. Just make sure you get an estimate prior to handing over the camera as they will charge a minimum $65 just for looking at it!

I turn on my olympus stylus 600 camera and all i get it a black screen.

You need to check whether the LCD screen is damaged or not. The best way to do this is shoot a picture, and then down load to PC. Check whether the picture is ok or not. If the picture is ok, then LCD is bad. You need to replace your LCD.

If you wan tto do it yourself, the following are some sites for help:
http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/11/fixing-or-replacing-broken-lcd-screen.html
Buy a used camera (one sold for parts) through ebay.com very cheap. Buy a jewellers screwdriver set for $1 from Dollar store. Then replace the LCD.

Broken LCD - Need cost or can I avil Warranty as in Warranty period.

Unfortunately I would be pretty sure that the warranty wouldnt cover the cost of your screen as it would come under misuse... ie: you broke it dropped it caught it damaged it ?. and not covered under electronic breakdown or fair wear and tear , however dont despair a replacement screen is not that much and fitting it is relatively simple with the right tools and a steady hand and good eyesight ..Cost of a replacement is available on the Olympus website .. however if the screen just stopped working and you didn't break it then yes it would be covered under warranty .. OLYMPUS STYLUS 740 ALL WEATHER

If it works, use it as long as you can.

Fixing snap-shooters is generally not worth it,
since digital cameras evolve rapidly and lose
value even faster with age.

Olympus 700 problem

You have physically bent the lens extension mechanism.
Professional repair is required. Get an estimate first
to make sure its worth it.

The data on the memory card would not be effected
by such an accident, but copy it to a PC ASAP just
to be sure.

Diplay turning white on mju 700...

Hi

Sounds like your camera was dropped and the LCD was damaged. The white screen you see is typical for a defective LCD screen. The only way to repair the camera is to replace the bad part with a known good one.

One solution would be to buy a defective camera online that has a good LCD screen and swap them out.

Good luck from Darntoothysam com

Broken LCD Screen

wow! good luck... I would say the manufacturer would be your best bet to order from. i don't know how LCD screens are but i do know that most camera parts are pretty touchy for being with their own counterparts. I've tried camera repair, man it is intricate! once again, GOOD LUCK
