My computer is powering up but it is saying no bootable devices...... what does that mean
It's mean
your computer cannot detect any bootable device
your computer cannot booting
have you install an operating system to your computer?
if yes
maybe your hdd is broken
or just it's boot sector
try to re-install your operating system
then
if your problem still exsisted
try re-install your computer with different hdd (i mean you need to replace it)
or
if the message appear when you try to install an operating system
maybe your operating system installer CD is broken or cannot be read
or your optical drive is broken
try to install with different CD
then if it just same
try to replace the optical disk drive
The computer can't find the hard disk with instalation of windows, chek the hard disk to see if is properly conected on motherboard. or power conection on the hardisk.
This means it is not recognizing your hard drive

Check your bios and make sure that your boot from lan is disabled, and check the boot order. Make sure that your CD rom is first, then your hard drive, then boot from lan. Boot from lan needs to be one of the lasts you use if you use your laptop for personal use.
Also make sure any USB devices, like flash storage or external hard drives are disconnected from the computer.

This sounds awful, but a friend just had the same problem - no bootable device. He had dropped it, hitting keyboard first. Now he thumped it on the opposite side and IT WORKED! Must have been a loose connector

First of all make sure you have not left a DVD in the drive or a USB device connected to the laptop.
If you have reboot, see if it works.
If there is no Bootable device in and you get the message again, enter the Bios and check if the hard drive is showing in there. If it is not, you have a problem with the hard drive and it will need replacing, sometimes, you can remove it and re-insert it and it will work ok.
If the hard drive is seen in the Bios, but will not boot, you should run the Windows recovery disc, let it find the previous version of wndows and attempt a repair

so why it would not recognize the hard drive... is it that some part went bad?
