SOURCE: my computer says check cable connection

Check your bios and make sure that your boot from lan is disabled, and check the boot order. Make sure that your CD rom is first, then your hard drive, then boot from lan. Boot from lan needs to be one of the lasts you use if you use your laptop for personal use.

Also make sure any USB devices, like flash storage or external hard drives are disconnected from the computer.

SOURCE: my acer aspire one says no bootable device

This sounds awful, but a friend just had the same problem - no bootable device. He had dropped it, hitting keyboard first. Now he thumped it on the opposite side and IT WORKED! Must have been a loose connector

SOURCE: When I turn on my computer it's saying, no

First of all make sure you have not left a DVD in the drive or a USB device connected to the laptop.
If you have reboot, see if it works.

If there is no Bootable device in and you get the message again, enter the Bios and check if the hard drive is showing in there. If it is not, you have a problem with the hard drive and it will need replacing, sometimes, you can remove it and re-insert it and it will work ok.

If the hard drive is seen in the Bios, but will not boot, you should run the Windows recovery disc, let it find the previous version of wndows and attempt a repair

Whenever I turn on my computer, it says the 'boot device not found'. What should I do to get my laptop functioning again please?

If your computer is displaying an error message saying "boot device not found" when you turn it on, it means that your computer is unable to find the hard drive or any other bootable device to load the operating system. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:
  1. Check the boot order in BIOS: Restart your computer and access the BIOS settings by pressing the appropriate key (usually F2, F10, or Del) during startup. Check the boot order to make sure the hard drive is set as the first boot device. If not, change the order and save the settings before exiting the BIOS.
  2. Check the hard drive connections: Make sure the hard drive is properly connected to the motherboard. You can open up the computer and check the cables to make sure they are secure.
  3. Check for hard drive failure: If the hard drive is making clicking or grinding noises, it may be failing. In this case, you may need to replace the hard drive.
  4. Try booting from a bootable USB or DVD: If your computer is still not able to find a boot device, you can try booting from a bootable USB or DVD. You can create a bootable USB or DVD using another computer.
  5. Seek professional help: If none of the above steps work, it may be best to seek professional help from a computer technician. They can diagnose the issue and recommend the best course of action.
Remember to always prioritize your safety when attempting to troubleshoot any issues with your computer. If you're unsure about how to proceed, it's best to seek professional help to avoid causing any further damage.

No bootable device on acer laptop

I would say your boot drive is faulty.
Take it to a computer guy and get it fixed by fitting a new hard drive and hopefully saving your information.

What do you do if no bootable device is found

When your pc starts as no bootable device that means it either can't see the hard drive or it's trying to start from the dvd or floppy? Do you know how to get into the bios menu?

Boot Cannot

This means your hard drive is not recognized. Most likely it is a failed hard drive. Another possibility is the power or data cable came disconnected from drive. This is only likely if your system has recently been opened up. A failed hard drive will mean a new hard drive will need to be installed.

No bootable device acer aspire 5250

This error message means that the computer is not seeing the hard drive or there is no operating system on the hard drive. In the bios does the computer see the hard drive? The unit may have to have the hard drive replaced.

Reboot and select proper boot device. what does it mean?

Boot device per see means that it is the device where you want your computer to start it may in the form of Optical drive (CD, DVD), Harddrive, USB drive (thumb drive), Floppy drive (for old computers). When get this error it also means that there are devices you have that are bootable it may be in a form of an Operating System Disk or just a simple bootable floppy drive. But the usual bootable device once you had the operating system installed already will be the Harddrive.

When i try to power it on it says no bootable devices

Check the BIOS table and ensure the hard drive is listed. If it isn't, set the hard drive as the bootable device and if it won't reboot your computer, prepare for formatting and putting a new system on the drive as it is no longer initialised.

My pavilion dv5000 says on startup media test failure check cable

Computers can start-up ("boot") from many different devices:
* 3.5" diskette,
* CD-ROM,
* USB memory-stick,
* disk-drive,
* network,
* external USB CD-ROM

and so on.

Your computer is trying to use the network adapter to download a bootable image through a connection with a network-cable to a "network-boot-server" computer.

In your case, "check cable" means that your computer's network-port is either *NOT* connected to a network, or that no "network-boot-server" responded to the request to download to your computer.

First, check the "boot-order", i.e., the priority of each of the bootable devices, to ensure that "boot from network" has a LOWER priority than booting from your diskette, your CD-ROM, and your disk-drive.

Second, check that your disk-drive *IS* one of the bootable devices.

Is there any bootable media in the diskette?
Is there any bootable disk in the CD-ROM?

If not, then your computer has *TRIED* and *FAILED* to boot from your disk-drive, and then tried and failed to boot from the network.

So, it's possible that your disk-drive has failed.

Take the computer to a qualified technician, and get them to remove the disk-drive from your computer, and to connect it to another computer, to see if the disk-drive still is in working-order.
