HISSING SOUND FROM FRIDGE FREEZER

OUR LG GR-L206CPQA IS MAKING A HISSING SOUND. THERE MAY BE A DARK COLOURED STICKY LIQUID THAT HAS COME FROM IT HOWEVER WE CANNOT BE SURE THIS LIQUID HAS COME FROM THE FRIDGE/FREEZER. NO OTHER IDEAS AS TO WHY IT IS MAKING THIS NOISE - HAVENT HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH IT

I started defrosting my freezer (it was completely iced up) and at one stage as some of the ice came loose a hissing sound started... which stopped about 20 mins later... what does this mean?

If the hissing sound is intermittent, maybe two or three times a day, the sound may be the defrost heater, located in the freezer section, melting the frost off the evaporator. Since the unit is working okay, I would suspect the defrost heater as the source of the noise. This sound would be a normal function of the unit and nothing to worry about.

Hi I have an LG fridge freezer model number GR L206CPQA and there is a horrible smell coming from the water from the dispenser, the filter has been changed and the ice seems to be fine but the fans on the...

Sorry but your model number doesn't register with me in the USA.
My experience tells me that the plastic water line from the filter to the water tank to the dispenser outlet is your problem. Replace those parts and you should be ok.
Hope this helps.

Your fridge is fine it was in defrost mode during this an element heats up to melt any frost and ice in the freezer. But yes the hissing sound does sound alarming but is perfectly normal. hope you have a nice day

I have electrocool LG MOdel# GR-382R ser# 206MR17803. my bottom fridge cooler area is freezing up.

I have the same problem. It seems that the gasket around the freezer door and fridge door are no longer tightly adhering to the fridge therefore allowing the cool air from the freezer to continiuously entering the fridge storage and making evreything freeze up. I am trying to find out if I can purchase new gaskets and install them myself.
Any recommendation on where to find these and how to install them?
Thanks.

Orange glow in freezer, what is it?

Your refrigerator is a frost free unit. The derost cycle in a refrigerator is controlled by a timer or an electronic control. When a unit goes into defrost, the fans and compressor are turned off and a heater in the freezer is energized. This is the glow that you see, and the hissing sound is the water droplets, from the melting frost, making contact with the heater. This is perfectly normal.

Freezer defrost LG american style

Defrost the unit for two days with the doors open...I know you're going to lose your contents. You may have ice on the coils internally. Next make sure you've cleaned the external coils under the unit. Leaving liquids open inside the unit or setting it colder than required will both cause issues like the ones you've got. Also, be sure all air vents inside the unit are unblocked and the door closes tightly all around.
