Sounds like your system needs a anti-virus issue. Restart the system hitting the F8 key as it begins to start until it the system gives you option of how to start the system scroll down to "LAST GOOD CONFIGURATION THAT WORKED" click on that. The system should start as normal, once it has go to your anti-virus and run that - then go and do a system restore to a point before it began having the freezing problem. This usually comes from movie sites with pop ups do not click on pop up only go to sites you initiate.

SOURCE: mouse keeps freezing

It maybe getting too hot. You need to blow out all vents and fans. I have seen acer laptops get too hot, easily, so you need to make sure it is dust free.

Extensa 5510

Occasionally this can happen when the thermal protection on the CPU detects overheating. If dust or grim enter the fan port and collect on the fan blades and/or internal parts; the cooling is compromised, thus in order to protect the CPU from total failure intermittent freeze may occur. An internal short on the circuit board can do the same thing. Some folks have mentioned that this has happened when head-phones or external devices were plugged in to the ports.
