My television is just over a year old, and is now turning itself off and on. When you turn the power on, the power/standby button flashes then it turns itself off. After about 30 seconds to a minute it will turn itself back on and then back off, and repeats.

Re: Power turning off and on
This may be the main digital module, I would suspect that this set is a couple years old and would be having issues with maybe the SSB module in that case, unplugging the set for 1 min might help, but I bet that it will require service.

Hi! Hope this will give hint... I understand some televisions nowadays are fully controlled using remote but there is always a standby power button for the television remote function. If the there is no power after turning on using the standby power button please check power cables, supplies and fuses. If the television has a standby power waiting the remote to act on but no response after pushing the remote's power button check the battery and its contact. Goodluck.
Well I'm not a T.v. expert but sounds similar to over heating problems. Is the ventilation covered or filled with dust? Try unplugging it and take an air can to the vents to blow out any dust it's collected over the years.
If TV does not remain in standby and turns on itself then power switch on top of it could be defective and power supply board is also suspected.
Take off its back cover and unplug top switch connector just to confirm is that cause of On-Off its own. If problem still exist then power supply board has problem and will be replaced.
Let me know the results to move forward.
Take the back off of the set and check the fuse if it is bad replace it be sure to uuplug your tv before you take the back off of it after you replace fuse if it is bad plug it up and see if it will come on if the fuse blows again then you have a deeper problem like the bridge shorted or transistor, restors in the power supply of the set.
Is this a recognised symptom?
the problem in power supply.
it is due to switching oscillator& switcing output circuit probabaly capacitor & transistor.
as set is very old so after power supply is ok check for horizontal output also.
can it be fixed?
yes it is common & not major problem
The proble you have is an intermittant power supply or sweep power supply. Unless you can find a bad connection on the power and deflection board, this could be a very difficult problem to find. I have ran across this problem a couple of times, and after spending countless hours troubleshooting, I replaced the main board and all the problems were taken care of. The board part number is at samsungparts.com and I found the board for you. it is located here:
