I don't have a SC-505 but a SC-500.My unit was working fine until one day it fell on the floor. After that time, no steam was coming out of it. The water becomes hot, I can hear it. The light becomes green, the cap is hot but no steam is coming out of the nozzle when I depress the handle. One time when I unscrewed the cap, about 15 minutes after it was not working, a lot of steam came out.
I don't know what to do. Can it be doctored or do I need to throw it away?
Thanks for your help.
i have a sc-505 steamer but can't get it to make steam. when i fill it and plug it in ,it heats but no steam comes out, i get a tiny drop of liquid but then nothing. i can remove the cap which is not hot and no steam comes out, but water is scalding. i have descaled with vinegar solution a couple of times, no luck. i have also replaced red seal in cap. now all it does is heat water and nothing comes out when i depress trigger. would be glad if someone could help. i have a sc-505 steamer but can't get it to make steam. when i fill it and plug it in ,it heats but no steam comes out, i get a tiny drop of liquid but then nothing. i can remove the cap which is not hot and no steam comes out, but water is scalding. i have descaled with vinegar solution a couple of times, no luck. i have also replaced red seal in cap. now all it does is heat water and nothing comes out when i depress trigger. would be glad if someone could help.

The fall might have damaged or moved the trigger so that it does not depress the valve on boiler.
Try removing the screws which hold the handle together. The cap needs to be removed to allow the handle to separate.
Once the handle is apart check the trigger piece looking for any broken parts.

Unless Shark says water only I don't think that would be a problem. All the vinegar will do is remove any grease on the floor and perhaps remove some bad odor. I rinse my hair with vinegar water every day after shampoo and conditioner. Only then do I consider my baby fine hair clean!
It sounds like the internal temp thermostat is detecting that its hot enough when its not, and cutting the power as its supposed to, but too early. It may not be worth time/effort/money changing this part, in case its a problem with another part. Its a bit desperate but you could turn it off and half fill it with cold water then shake it vigorously to see if washing the internal surfaces impoves things.
no betty, stupid bit of kit imo, no operating switch, just on/off at the switch, which heats the water up. i measured 500ml of water heated using my kettle, put the top on, switched on, and waited. first time the steam didn't come out of the nozzle, so i removed the end and cleaned the nozzle with water, blew down the end from the big end, and replaced it, steam came out. big grumble though, the steam coming out is not that warm, don't advise you to, but i directed against my fingers, it's only hot at the exit of the pointing bit, used it to try and clean floor tiles and grout, complete waste of time. i wouldn't advise anyone to buy one.
I have attachments for the SC 505 Euro-Pro Shark Portable Steam Cleaner. My cap broke off of the water tank and I can't find one to replace it so I'm trying to sell off the pieces. Email me at [email protected] and let me know which ones you want. This is what I have. We can work out a price.
You might need to de-scale the unit to free the stuck valve.
Keep the unit unplugged.
Fill the unit with a vingar and water (filtered or distilled is best).
Screw the cap back on and place the unit in a sink upside down to allow the vingar and water to reach the valve.
After a few minutes press down the trigger several time to work the solution into the valve.
Hope this helps.

Posted by deh127 on Jul 07, 2008 My dog ate thought the hose coming right from the steamer. I need to get a new hose and I never got the attachment that cleans the floor where can I get that? I only got the hose and then attachments that would clean a grill. Hello, I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. The best place to get the added attachments for the Euro-Pro Shark SC-505 Handheld Steam Vacuum is to contact the Shark / Fantom factory manufacturer of which I will list below and this is a specialty vacuum and most local vacuum cleaner dealers do not have the parts but can order them for you if they are connected with Shark / Fantom. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions. http://www.sharkvac.com/Customer Tech Support 1-800-798-7398 These are the other brands that use the same tech support line Shark / Euro-Pro / Infinity / Bravetti / and Fantom Hours are Monday thru Saturday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM (EST) Thanks, Don the Vac Man Go Ahead. Same issue with my model. Heated up but would not produce... I called it SED (Scunci Erectile Disfunction) My doctor prescribed him some lube, and it worked! Now days Im happy to say we share a heathy steamy relationship!
Say goodbye to SED forever with the help from lube! All you have to do is open up the unit, locate the circular brass colored button, apply a squirt of lube (wd-40), create a decent amount of pressure and play with the little button until you notice smooth in-out motions. Put the unit back together and BAM you two will be back to a hot and steamy relationship, just like you had when you first met! ;)
