Were did you store the fridge? Has it been in the upright position all the time? If not, it has to be kept in the upright position for at least 24 hrs before you plug it.
If this is not the issue, then most likely the problem is a bad starting device for the compressor or the compressor itself. If it is just a starting device then you can fix it yourself and the part is not expensive. If the problem is the compressor and your fridge is less then five years old - it is still under warranty and Kitchen Aid has to fix it free of charge. If the fridge is more then five years old, it is going to cost you over $500 and you have to compare it with the price of the new one.

Try replacing the circulating fan first. If it's not turning, it's more than likely bad. However, the fan might not be your only problem. The problem may lie with the icemaker. The icemaker is essentially the brain of the unit. It tells when to cool, when to defrost and when to maintain temp. Your icemaker may be stuck in defrost mode.
There a button on the control panel label "cube ice" if you push this it will remove a gate up in the front of the ice make. If it not working. Remove the ice tray and you will see long rod on the ice tray. Move the rod back and forth afew time. Also, on the back wall behind the ice tray is a small latch, make sure that this latch is free to move. There could be ice on it remove the ice. Then reinstall the tray. GB....stewbison
I had this issue after a power outage with our GE Profile Model GFSF6KKY Dispenser Model. No solution that I could find online helped me so I started trying different button combinations. Pressing Adjust Freezer and Adjust Refrigerator buttons at the same time and holding it for at least 10 seconds worked for me.
You can try unplugging , wait a few minutes , and plugging back in . If that doesn't work , then the main control board , located on the back of the refrig ( behind an 8 " X 10 " panel ) , was damaged by the power surge , and needs to be replaced .
you do not hear the fan ? your evaporator fan is not working - shut off everything and remove freezer panel look for any excess ice or frust blocking the fan - if everything is clear try spinning the fan blades with your hands, is there any resistence or it spins freely ? Put back cover and turn it on - if fan fails to spin then you have to get it serviced and change the evap fan motor assembly or check the control board.
your unit won't cool if the fan is not working or working erratically.
All cooling takes place in the freezer. The refrig/fresh food side is a parasite, depending on cold air circulation from the freezer side. The fan in the freezer provides that circulation, and usually the freezer control setting determines how much air is moved into the refrig side.
If the fan is up to speed and the both controls are set in a middle position, the refrig side should be fine. if the problem continues, replace evaporator fan motor or clear the blockage preventing circulation (usually frost build-up from a defective defrost system part or blocked defrost drain).
