I have a pair of Skullcandy Lowriders, and when I'm wearing them, they seem a little quiet. As soon as I press the microphone button, they're noticably louder, and when I let go,they go quiet again. Is this a fault or is it normal?
SOURCE: Loose Wire, please help
You will have to buy a replace ment jack and solder the connections. These cords seem to have different colors between manufacturers but start by soldering the green or blue (left) to the tip of the plug, the next ring to the red(right) wire and the base to the copper(ground) wire. Try to get a plug with a metal shield that unscrews and make sure you thread the cable through the shield right way around( threads towards plug before you solder.
SOURCE: weird sound.
You will have to test the wiring from the plug to the speakers individually with a volt ohm meter. Wires this thickness break or go intermittent easily. Don't take them apart if they are still on warranty. Take them back to where you bought them and get replacements. Be sure to take the original packaging if you still have it and the sales receipt.
SOURCE: my skullcandy earphones are busted
could be caused by the way you wrap them up the cords should never be wound tightly it causes a short and it just so happens that earphones are made of light weight wiring to make them seem to disapear when wearing them so what to do is instead of winding them when your done simply fold them loosely so to speak

If you live in the USA or Canada Skull Candy have a lifetime warranty on thier products so I would check with them. Even if you don't still enquire.
