Mitsubishi WD-52525 52" Rear Projection HDTV Logo
Anonymous Posted on Jul 07, 2007

WD-52525 Techman, You had responded to a post I made, but I hadn't heard back from you again. It was regarding my wd52525 which is displaying a blue screen with dancing horizontal lines and a lighter bluish round area in the middle. All inputs have similar display. I get the 1-2 error message. You said that you thought it was the DM board (A guy in a local shop referred to the DM3 board; same thing? He said that "all DLP's do this sooner or later" and that I should buy a regular projection TV). I found your DM repair guide on a google search. I got very excited because while I don't know the intricacies electronics, I have soldered quite a bit, as has a friend of mine though his experience is in building and repairing audio receivers and amps as a hobby (he's an audiophile I guess). Your instructions were so explicit I thought we could do it no problem...then I pulled the cover off my set and saw a very different setup. I see the panel with the USB and firewire connections which looks similiar but it is sandwiched between other components and I'm not sure how to remove it. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Man, I am really sorry. The webpage kept asking me to rate the solution. I don't know the etiquite with these forums - usually just read and don't post. I thought I had to post a rating or something, so I gave "almost there" because we seem to be...almost there. I didn't know that was bad! I mean it has a green cube - green is good right? Like "go"? Yellow and red seem bad, not green. I couldn't say "solved" since I don't yet know if it was solved. Will have to wait until the repair is made. Why would I give you a "crap" rating??? I know full well how much you were saving me. Why do you think I was so excited? Anyway, sorry for not knowing my way around this webpage. Now my email address is posted on a public site and nothing to show for it. I hope I didn't mess your profile up or something.

Give it up for TechMan! I fixed my TV because of his guidance here. As it turns out, my problem was bad capacitors on the power supply board, not the DM board. However, if weren't for techman's suggestion that the TV could possibly be fixed with a little soldering, I would never have even looked at the inside of my TV. He also supplied me with detailed instructions on removing the chassis. I replaced the caps, reassembled, and what do you know, TV works like a charm!
NOTE: The guy at the electronic supply store said that he believes most of the shops in town are repairing TV's this way (replacing the bad caps), but they are charging for the replacement of the entire board, over $1000! This entire project cost me $7. Something to keep in mind.

My son & I have been doing lots of reading and are anxious to try to our fix, but need a little advise. Our WD-52525 has a couple bulged capacitors on its front circuit board which we would like to try replacing, but we are aprehensive about the terminology when we found 4 different capacitors at the vendor with identical specs. The old ones were labeled: "3300mf10v nichicon H0427 105C" next to "C9A38" on the board. We narrowed the search at Digi-Key.com down to 4, so we purchased a e-service manual & found their reference (more numbers) that did not help us to select the replacement. The 4 different capacitors we found on digikey.com were all the same specs except for they were under 3 different categories. One said General Purpose, one said Miniature, and two said Low Impedance. If somebody could help us out here, let us know which piece would work we would sure appreciate it.

I am having simular problems w/my Mit WD52525. Started with Honeycomb white lines in middle of Blue Screen and no picture. Than Bulb went. Thought bulb problem replaced and new one will not fire. Saw a blurb about replacing caps but do not know how to get to them. I started to take the set apart but know I am stuck. Please help me Techman with finishing what I started. Thanks

Hi techman, I have the wd-52525. I have the steady blinking GLOD. I got the chasis out and the boards removed but I'm not sure which caps to replace. the DM board (one with the card slot) has a couple bulging black / blue caps but I want to make sure I get everything while I got this turd apart. Can you send me the manuals? I have the V26 service manual but it doesn't show boars only how to take out the chasis. my email is [email protected]. Thanks friend!

I think I have the same problem. Where did you get the capacitors you replaced? Were they HO420 capacitors? Those are the ones on mine that look like they are bubbling on top. thanks.

You will need the service manual to do this repair. I happen to have it, as this site was suppose to put in the pictures and things to explain that a lot of TV sets are still using this DM board, but they are building them differently. Just follow the directions in the service manual on how to remove the DM board and then follow the directions in the article on repairing the DM board. I will need your e-mail address to forward this service manual to you. Good Luck

Nice rating you gave. Now you can buy the manual my friend. I was trying to help you and you gave me a crap rating? Good Luck and hope you have to spend loads to fix your set as I could have saved you hundreds! Go here to buy it. http://www.servicemanuals.net/results.as...

If you haven't been so simple to give this a so so rating, I would have saved you a few bucks.
