My LG CRN 8245B on my IBM ThinkPad doesn't work. It always displays the message, "Please insert a disk into drive E:.". I tried to solve it by using Windows Help and Support Center but it still doesn't work as I could not update, reinstall my driver. What can I do?
These compact CD drives break more easily than standard desktop drives. Your drive will probably need to be replaced. First I would try removing and re-inserting the drive (maybe even a few times) There is probably one screw or a slide switch under the laptop to allow the CD drive to be removed. IF that does not help, have you cleaned the lens? You have easy access to the lens when the drive is open. If you have any camera lens cleaning equipment use that, if not 91% rubbing alcohol and a q-tip will work. Just don't rub too much or apply much pressure at all. Just lightly sweep away any dust. If none of the above work I would look for a replacement. The CD burner or DVD burner drives are typically more reliable and last longer.
