Freezer is producing"snow" and freezer burning everything
I have a Whirlpool side by side that is just about 3 years old. Just recently the bottom of my freezer is filled with a solid block of ice and all the shelves, and ice maker are coverd with what my kids call snow. The food in the freezer also tastes frost burned. I have defrosted the freezer, cleared the drain (I think) and it worked good for about 3 days and the problem started again. Can I fix this? Thanks.

AFTER A DEFROST,HAVE A GOOD LOOK AT THE DOOR RUBBER. IT MUST BE 100% SEALED FOR A FREEZER. (SHOULD ALSO HEAR A SLIGHT VACUME WHEN DOOR IS SHUT WHEN UP NTO TEMP).ALSO MAKE SURE MOTOR IS SWITCHING OFF AT +/- 20C (TEMP).IF ALLOWED TO RUN CONTINUOUSLY TEMP WILL PULL DOWN TO CREATE EXCESS FROST.

Good day, If it is under 1 year old, then it is under warranty. Sounds as if the defrost system failed, but you will need to call your selling dealer for a warranty service call. It should cost you nothing.
open the freezer door,do you hear fan blowing if you don't bad evap fan motor, replace it, if that's ok touch the back wall of freezer, remove second from bottom rack and touch back wall,if there is snow or ice there you have a defrost problem, take off the back wall and find out what part is bad, could be t-stat,heater,or timer depending on year,if you can find timer advance it with screw driver and if heater comes on you have bad timer, you'll need a meter to read out t-stat and heater
Verify condenser fan is running. Check evaporator coils for frost. IM will quit if freezer does not go below 5 degrees. The cooling was slowly dieing and finally warmed enough to defrost the food. Eric
Replace your heater and thermostat behind the back wall of the freezer. the air will not flow from the freezer to the fridge because of all the forming ice. Also replace the defrost timer. take your model number into a local parts store and they can get you the parts. This is very common!!!!! But pretty easy to do.
