Hello -
i came back to the office from the holiday to find my ikebana fireblaster external hard drive turned off, most likely due to a power surge during a power failure.
when i reset the breaker, my other two external hard drives mounted, but the ikebana will not.
at first, the drive had immediate flashing red lights whenever i tried to turn it on. i turned it off over night.
this morning, i turned it back on - the flashing lights were now gone (a green 'on' indicator light remained) but the drive does not show up on my desk top. i cannot access the information on the drive nor can i get it to mount on any of the computers in my office.

thanks for any assistance you can provide in helping me access the data on this drive.
regards,
shannon

If the information on it is worth more than the warranty, or the warranty has expired, then open it up, physically extract the hard drive itself and mount it in a pc as a slave drive. Then you should be able to get your data.
Sounds like the power supply in the external drive has gone - please post back if you want us to try and source spares etc
Hope this helps :)

Formatting the drive, depending upon the type of format, is destructive of data. There are specialized recovery programs that can sometimes save the old FAT tables, but chances are you are out of luck. Many times these external drives fail because they are not built to handle the heat and shock/vibration that comes with being encased and mobile. Often it is not the drive itself that fails, rather the SATA/USB controller in the enclosure. I have seen many individuals pull their "failed" drives out of the enclosure, install it internally, and find all the data is still there.
Hard
drive recovery software is the exact answer for your question how to restore crashed hard drive Mac data.
Some days back, due to software conflicts my Mac hard drive was crashed and I
was unable to access my data stored in it. I was really tensed because the
stored data was very much important to me. Then I searched over the internet
and found this software which successfully restored all my lost data and I was very
much happy after getting back my data. The software can be downloaded either
from official website or by simply clicking here.
Hello there, external drives simply consist of sata hard drives. First the data on your external is still intact as i assume that the drive has not crashed but the casing is condemned. Simply open up the casing and get a replacement sata drive casing you can always get one from any computer shop or order one online from any of numerous computer shops online and put the hard disc inside the new casing. If this is properly done all your information will still be intact. Hope this support has been helpful?
Thank you for visiting FixYa.
You can try placing it into an external hard drive caddy (your internal plugs into it) The device will plug in usb 2.0 and recognize as an external drive.
If the drive is unrecognizable, than unfortunately it has physically failed and costs to recovery data are very high. Always have 2 forms of backup for all data.
Hello krnetadragan Connect the device to another computer to see if the issue actually comes from it or from your machine . If your drive is defective , try a recovery tool from http://www.geckoandfly.com/3163/crashed-hard-drive-hard-disk-data-recovery-software-tools-and-service/ You can also open the box ( will be lost ) and connect the drive straight inside your pc if it is a desktop . If the drive runs fine with the other computer , try changing the usb connection on your pc . Try also a system restore and set your computer back to a date when your device was running fine . Back up your latest data first . Best regards . fanaudi
Hi there, Remove it and install it into another computer to see what'll happen. If it shows up in 'my computer' as a drive letter(like E: drive) but you can't access it,you can recover data on it with data recovery program to avoid losing them. I have succeed with Tenorshare data recovery. It can recover data after deeply scanning your hard drive to look for lost data due to drives crash and 'not recognized' issue. You can get it here: http://www.any-data-recovery.com/index.htm After you recover your data, you can format it to check out whether it can be fixed. If the hard drive can't be detected, you can try this way.Put it in a zip-lock bag and put it in the freezer overnight. Then while it's still cold plug it into the computer and you may be able to view it in 'my computer'. And run the recovery program to recover your data on it. If it fails, you will have to go to a recovery office but let's hope not because it will cost you a lot of money and whether they can recover data is not guaranteed. This article will help. How To Recover Lost Data From Crashed Hard Drive? http://tenorsharedatarecovery.blogspot.com/how-to-recover-lost-data-from-crashed.html

Hello. It sounds like your external hard drive has crashed, or is getting ready to crash. If you can back up your data, you should do it now. If not, you should get your drive to a professional as soon as possible.
I'll monitor this thread. If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.
try to connected them one at a time.
connect one and let the machine find it and assign a drive letter. then connect the other one.
that should work. of not, then you need to change the BIOS to recognizeadditional drive.
