Screen not working on RCA M4002A

On the back of your player there is a reset button. I used the post of an earring and inserted it so it would reset. Mine works now. Try it! Good luck.

Where can I find a charger for the rca opal m4002a or how can it be charged

Go to eBay,and look for the USB cable( About $ 4.00) for the iPod nano, it works for the Opal,I ordered one,and it is fine.It has a USB connector on one end,and the plug for the Opal. You plug one end where the earplugs go,and the USB connector on your computer. You have to let it charge at least for 3 hours.

What song service supports rca opal m4002a mp3 player. napster doesn't work?

Not iTunes. Not Napster.
You could try Rhapsody's MP3 ONLY service - new!
Limewire works, but make sure you anti-virus program is up-to-date.

The key is to use Mp3 format only, and most music services have switched to WMA format.

Opal rca mp3 m4002a TROUBLE!

Disable the auto-sync option in Windows Media Player, and then delete the songs again from Windows Media Player. If auto-sync is not disabled, then those songs will never go away.

Hung in a transfer loop after being removed from PC

When I (USB) plug in my RCA Opal M4002A mp3 player into my "Office PC" it works fine, but when I plug it into my "Studio PC" the "Opal" screen shows "USB connected" and so does the "PC" with the "Device Connected Sound" but then the "Mouse Pointer" changes to the "Hour Glass" you hear the "System Notification Sound" then the "Mouse Pointer" changes back to the default "Arrow Pointer" and this back and forth action loops endlessly until I unplug it. I've tried everything. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank You, Quaal
*** ONLY THIS PART OF THE ABOVE MESSAGE IS MINE ***
ALSO I HAVE THE "RCA Opal M4002A" (2GB) mp3 player.
*** After much trial and error this FIXED my problem. ***
1 - First right mouse click on "My Computer".
2 - Left click on "Properties"- Left click on "Hardware"- Left click on "Device Manager".
3 - Now with one end of the USB cable plugged into your mp3 player, plug the other into your USB port. (Now when I did this a new "Portable Device" icon with an "MTP" Driver (sub icon) showed up in the "Devices List". (The "MTP" icon had an "!" on it, telling my it wasn't working properly. I then did this.
4 - Right click on "MTP" driver icon, then ...
5 - Left click on "Update Driver". (I was then given two choices. The top one was the faulty "Portable Device" driver which I had done everything I could to fix, but nothing worked. So I then did this ...
6 - Left click on the "Mass Storage" Driver (the second choice below it in the list), I then clicked "OK". The "Updating Driver" screen showed for a moment. The "Portable Device / MTP Driver(!)" icon vanished from the "Device Manager" devices list, But the looping STOPPED!!! My Opal was working beautifully and showing in my "Root Directory" as Drive j: and in "Device Manager" under "Disk Drives" as "Thomson Opal USB Device".
P.S. For some reason the file transfers are noticeably faster now. Good Luck, Quaal

RCA OPAL M4002A

Call RCA, and find out if you are still in warranty. Except in rare locations like Philadelphia, there is no Mp3 repair svc that will fix this problem.

RCA Opal M4002A Need screen

I have an Opal 2GB mp3 player just like yours and I accidentaly busted the screen on it, so I e-mailed the RCA company, they e-mailed me back telling me that I voided the warranty, and I would have to send it back and pay 55 dollars to get a new one, because they don't sell the individual screens.

I hope this helps.

No display on my RCA OPAL M402A Player

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
Or,

There are two ways to format an Mp3 player - one on the computer itself, and one in Windows Media Player. Both methods will end up erasing all the songs on the player, but the player will be "good as new" after that. Sometimes reformatting in this manner will override the player's native formatting and cause problems - this can be reversed in most cases by updating the player's firmware. Firmware upgrades are available from most manufacturers' websites.

WARNING: The following procedures will erase all songs on the player.
Check if the file system is NTFS. If yes, format it to FAT or FAT32. - Connect player to computer, double-click my computer, right click on icon of mp3 player and select format. This only applies to Windows-based computers.
You can also format the player in Windows Media Player itself:
Connect your Mp3 player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "name of Mp3 player here 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.

RCA OPAL M4002A Video Problem

You need the specific video converter software from RCA that comes on the CD included with the Opal.  If you don't have that, post here and I'll try to upload the image somewhere as an .iso file.  This is necessary to get the video into the final format the Opal can use.  As far as I know, other video convertors won't format the file properly.
