Question about Hotpoint FFA60 Bottom Freezer Refrigerator
Noticed pools of water at the base of the freezer. Then the red high temp warning light has come on and the freezer is slowly defrosting. There doesn't seem to be any ice on the coils (I took the back cover off in the freezer compartment), though they are cold. I've cleared the drain holes which had a small amount of debri in them. The fan does not seem to come on at all (previously it was quite noisy). The fridge light comes on and the fridge itself still seems quite cool. Is it likely to be a stat or the fan itself that's gone wrong, and where can I source parts from? Help!!!
It sounds as if the fan motor itself has failed, & without the fan, only the coils will get cold. A replacement can be obtained from any appliance parts store, or from Hotpoint...check the website. If you are not experienced in appliance repair, I suggest you call a repair person , as some of the fans can be difficult to replace, & it is easy to cause additional damage.
