Re: Symbol RF MC9060S - Internal Battery is dead
First check if the internal battery will hold a charge. Symbol says;
"The MC906x backup battery charges off of the MC906x main battery. To charge the backup battery, insert a fully charged main battery into the MC906x. The MC906x can be placed in its cradle, but does not need to be. The backup battery takes approximately 15 hours to charge.
To determine whether the backup battery is fully charged (after allowing to charge for 15 hours), remove the main battery."
If you are still getting the replace internal battery message, contact these guys for a replacement and instructions - (you have to open the case, and often these batteries are board-soldered components, so you have to be reasonably skilled to identify and replace them);
Warranty details are here;
If you can get a spare battery from Symbol and want to try it yourself, please post back a photo or two of the inside and we can hopefully direct you, but symbol may well recommend sending it to them for replacement.
Hope this helps :)

Nokia phones are notorious for slow response time when recharging from a completely dead battery.
Make sure there is good contact between all of the contact points.
plug in charger.
wait for at least 5 min.
If recharge symbol does not appear in window, then one of these things has occurred: 1. Phone has internal damage or water damage. no way to fix without nokia service.
2. Battery is dead. Try a new battery
3. Charger is bad. Try a new/different car charger or home charger.
These chargers are very inexpensive on Craigs List, try to solve it before throwing away the phone. Good luck, A former Nokia employee.
Take off both battery cables and use coarse sandpaper to clean out the inside of the cable terminals and clean the outside of the battery posts. Examine the battery cables to make sure one of the the cables iis not coming loose from the end terminals. You may need to disconnect the other ends of the cable and clean those terminals also. If that doesn't fix it you should get the battery checked. It could have an intermittent internal short. Using a pocketknife to clean the terminals before using the sandpaper could speed up the process if there is heavy corrosion.
Less likely but also will cost you nothing, try and reload LWP and UPD but don't forget to use the comman FLSHFMT on both E drive and D drive first.
More likely is that the radio card of the terminal is busted or might have become lose as the internal radio connector was always a bit flakey on this device. You can try removing the 6 screws on the plastic cover, open it and unplug and plug again the radio card.
This sounds like an internal failure on the keyboard. It should not go to sleep. By removing the battery you are effectively resetting the internal logic. If the status light is on all of the time it may think it has (or have) a key stuck and is timing out to conserve battery life. If that is not the case it is time to contact Gyration Technical Support.
