Symbol RF MC9060S - Internal Battery is dead

How do you fix or replace the internal battery of Symbol RF MC9060S terminal? What kind of battery? Or even, Does anybody know how does the warranty expires on Symbol products?

Is it normal for the internal battery to stop charging after only 16 months since I received them.
Of course my problem now is that they are now outside the warranty period.

To avoid repeating this same problem in the future, Is there anything I should do?

You have to first charge the backup battery, for charging insert a fully charged main battery into the MC906x. Then the backup battery will starts charging leave it there for one day. if that message is still coming then the problem is with the backup battery and u have to replce it

First check if the internal battery will hold a charge. Symbol says; "The MC906x backup battery charges off of the MC906x main battery. To charge the backup battery, insert a fully charged main battery into the MC906x. The MC906x can be placed in its cradle, but does not need to be. The backup battery takes approximately 15 hours to charge. To determine whether the backup battery is fully charged (after allowing to charge for 15 hours), remove the main battery." If you are still getting the replace internal battery message, contact these guys for a replacement and instructions - (you have to open the case, and often these batteries are board-soldered components, so you have to be reasonably skilled to identify and replace them); http://www.symbol.com/category.php?category=733 Warranty details are here; http://www.symbol.com/symbol_warranty/warranty.html If you can get a spare battery from Symbol and want to try it yourself, please post back a photo or two of the inside and we can hopefully direct you, but symbol may well recommend sending it to them for replacement. Hope this helps :)

It largely would depend what type of battery it turns out to be. See what Symbol says, and then please ask us again. Try and get them to give you the specifications of the battery.

    Good Luck :)

PS if you get nothing from Symbol, Then see if you can open it up and take a few photos - post them back and we can see what we can do :)

PPS if you can't get the info from Symbol, also ask if they can at least get you a service manual :) :)

Hello fanida. I would bet that the problem lies with the motherboard. MC9060s come in both color and mono screens (as I'm sure you know). Check the part number of your new motherboard against the old one. If they're different, I would bet that the new motherboard was made for a color screen model. If this is the case, just get a motherboard that supports a monochrome screen, or you can get a color screen and use it in that model. I hope this helps. Good luck!

Dvr won't turn on but fan is running

If you unplug the dvr and open it up, unscrew the screws and just open the casing. Can you see any battery inside it? It would look similar to a watch battery most likely. My security dvr will do that and I have to replace the internal battery, not sure if tivo like dvrs are the same though.

Installing a symbol pdt3140

The first thing you will need for it if it is a PDT 3140 is the OS which you can still find under the support and download pages at www.symbol.com and is called LWP and UPD. you will also find there Software Development Kits and instructions on how to write applications for this devices.

RF driver failed to load

It can only be one of two things.

Less likely but also will cost you nothing, try and reload LWP and UPD but don't forget to use the comman FLSHFMT on both E drive and D drive first.

More likely is that the radio card of the terminal is busted or might have become lose as the internal radio connector was always a bit flakey on this device. You can try removing the 6 screws on the plastic cover, open it and unplug and plug again the radio card.

MC 9060 not retaining programming

We have the same problem, and according to our supplier we had to use the Regsave for saving the settings, due to internal proceudres, we haven't use the devices for a year, but now we have to use them again....
We have found this solution in the net, perhaps will help you...., now we are trying to find out the RegSave utility, if you find it, PLEASE e-mail me at [email protected] THKS
quote
Some brief notes about the use of RegSave on Symbol 90X0 terminals, specifically the 9060 with the 802.11b RF option.

You will need RegSave_2_53_04.zip

Unzip this and locate the file RegSaveCED.exe in the 9050 folder.

Connect your terminal as a guest in ActiveSync and explore it using Win Explorer. Locate the c:\applications folder and copy the RegSaveCED.exe file to this folder on the HHT.

Now you can uncouple the HHT and click start menu and Windows Explorer to look at HHT's local files. locate applications folder and locate the RegSaveCED.exe file... double tap

Now screen RegSave EMEA TS appears.

In Registry section press "Create Template File"
Accept \Application\RegSave.tpl option offered
Click Create template and wait forever !

............. time passes ..................

The app rattles through all the registry entries and builds a file with them all in. Just when you assume it'll last forever it stops...

Now back to the main screen ...

Click OK (top right) to exit the app

--- oOo ---

Now set your IP parameters and RF bits... in fact anything you need.

........... time passes ...........

--- oOo ---

Now re-load the RegSave app.

Press the button in the Registry section entitled "Save Current Configuration"

I got some missing file error here which I rode over roughshod... basically it's looking for a registry exception file. You can create this but and it can be a list of ignored keys but for our purposes it doesn't matter so I just said "Yes"

It'll do some stuff regarding comparing and checking for differences, then it saves the changed bits.

Now you can exit RegSave and try rebooting... it should have saved the changes to the Registry and everything should be the same as before
