Microsoft Optical 3000 mouse freezes every 2-3 min for 5 seconds

My mouse works for 2-3 minutes, then freezes for 5 seconds and repeats. I have changed the batteries, hit the connect button, relocated the stick in another USB port and still no luck in getting it to stop freezing.

My battery is new. The light on the receiver is on, the driver is installed correctly, the red light on the mouse is on, (though not changing brightness levels like it normally does). And there's nothing...

Perhaps when changing batteries they lost the connection/pairing.
I don't know this particular mouse, but usually there's a small "connect" button on both the mouse and the receiver, you have to press them both for the devices to pair.

Microsoft Optical 1.1A Wheel Mouse Optical - USB, PS/2 (D66-00034)

Hi again,

Appreciate the direct "Ask Me" and the repeat use of FixYa.

Interesting concern, should be pretty straightforward. Anyways, pls try to:
  • update/re-install the driver from Microsoft Download page;
  • alternately, disable the "Allow the computer to turn off..." in the Power Management tab of the USB Root Hub Properties in your Device Manager.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you again for using FixYa.
