Re: trying to replace the motor on my maytag toploader...
On the bottom of the front panel there should a philip head screw right above each fron adjusting leg.
Remove these 2 screws. Open the cover and lift up on the front between the drum & cover there are 2 metal clips holding the top down. Swing the top up and remove the front panel. The motor is right in front on the lower left. Let me know if this helps and thank you for using FixYa!

The problem is the water inlet valve has failed. This is inexpensive and easy to replace. Here is your part # AP4026989 If you need help installing try this link http://appliancehelponline.com/topload.html
all parts come with installation instructions. You can also enter your model # for diagrams and illustrations
You probably have something stuck in the drain pump. You will have to remove the hoses from the pump to extract it. I can not be more help without a model number. Maytag builds several styles of top load washers. They all access differently.
Hi, this is gil1714 in Scotland. Motor not starting properly, and humming. this machine has an induction motor which has a starter capacitor on the side(the cylinder shaped object). these age out, so try replacing with one of the same rating (printed on it ??mu). if that doesn't solve the problem, check to see if anything is partially jamming the drum, or if the machine is overloaded . the other possibility is that the coils in the motor are starting to fail, which would entail replacing the complete motor. hope this is useful gil.
Click on 'washing machines' (below FIXYA)on this website, type in your model number & search. You will get a shortlist; click on your model, below the page u will get Manual/Guides. Click on the blue, u hv your manual on line.
Go to Maytag, look for toploaders, 8kg. Best of luck, if it's available, you're saved...........
Turn the water off and disconnect the hot wat hose from the spigot and the machine. There should be a screen filter in one end. Check to see if the screen is clogged. If it is then replace it. If not then replace the water valve
