I had this problem with my Medion... what model is yours? The beeping is a code and indicates what the problem is. I called Medion support ant they asked me how many beeps and all that... they determined that the motherboard was toast and replaced it under warranty.

If you cannot reach the BIOS settings screen at power-up, then try another known-good keyboard...it is likely dead.

ok, now try removing the memory chips...a normal startup for this can get you to the BIOS screen. If this does not work, then try another video card and if still nothing, then your mobo or the BIOS is toast.
So, after a while, did you ever get to try my suggestion:

>>i see you did not lock your rating yet...how were my comments not helpful at all?
no, if the cpu is dead, the pc will not power up. Also, I think the tiny chip is not a factor...the wire bonding takes place farther to the center of the chip body. You can always monitor the DC supply (3V or 5V) with an oscilloscope and watch for changes in value or any telltale signs of bad power suppply. At least now I got a "thanks for trying"...thanks.

Nope, that doesn't work. I think the worrying thing is the fact there is no normal boot up activity. The monitor powers up (in the sense of it being powered from the mains). If I unplug the monitor I get a "no signal" message but as soon as I plug into the PC the monitor goes into standby. The PC itself was fine on my old PC.
I've tried all of the above before my post i.e. Taking out memory, trying a different videocard etc. I had a look at the cpu and the silver conducting paste is dry and cracking.
Furthermore the cpu itself looks a bit.. well dark around the edges and it looks like theres a tiny chip at the edge of the actual chip (not the housing)!
Now obviously this could be the problem, but if it was the cpu would the pc power up at all!?
Thanks so far
